Def Leppard played another show on The World Tour 2023 last night in Clisson, France with 17 songs performed.
The show took place at the 30,000 capacity Hellfest festival site.
The first show in this city since June 2019.
Another outdoor festival show.
Hellfest
From COPENHELL to Hellfest.
Another 30,000 plus rock fans in a field in Europe and another festival show on this tour leg.
A return to France after almost 5 years.
'Drastic Symphonies' only reached Number 129 in the charts here, but no one here cared about that.
Two Stages
The last festival had two stages but Hellfest combine two into one.
Main Stage 1 and Main Stage 2 with Def Leppard playing on Main Stage 1 on the right (for the crowd).
The festival's own video screens were used again but this time a third big screen was used from stage 2 on the other side (see Fan Videos).
Judging from the few video posted so far another fine performance although a major lack of posts by fans as it happened.
Festival Line-Up
Six other bands played on Main Stage 1 before Def Leppard's set.
These included Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris and his side band British Lion.
And old friends Skid Row who opened for the band in November 2003 on the final leg of the X/Ten tour in Germany.
As well as most of Joe's band mates from the Down 'n' Outz playing with their regular band The Quireboys.
Alter Bridge played before the band featuring singer Myles Kennedy who opened for Def Leppard with Slash in 2013.
Vivian Campbell/10 Years On
Yes hard to believe that it is now over ten years since Vivian shared the news of his diagnosis for Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
On the 10th June 2013 and the first show played was Hellfest in Clisson on 21st June 2013.
Ten years later, and after a few setbacks in 2014/2015, Vivian is still rocking on stage as if he doesn't have it.
"Campbell Tough" indeed.
17 Song Setlist
The same 17 song setlist played once more.
All three 'Diamond Star Halos' songs played in France for the first time.
Hellfest History
As mentioned above the first visit here was in June 2013 during the Summer Tour 2013 of Europe.
That show being their first visit to France since October 1996 on the Slang tour.
Like Germany, France was one of the most played European countries from 1980 to 1993 with over 40 shows.
Not so much since and the next French show was at Hellfest in June 2019.
Last night's show marking their third appearance in Clisson and at Hellfest.
The next Def Leppard show takes place in Dessel, Belgium on 18th June at Graspop Metal Meeting.
