Def Leppard played a Slang world tour show in Mexico City, Mexico on this day in 1997 with video/photos available.

This final part of the tour would make its way down from Mexico and into South America. Their first ever dates played in the region.

The second visit to Mexico began in Monterrey at the Auditorio Coca Cola in Fundidora Park on 2nd April.

Two days later they returned to the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City.

The venue where they played two shows to the end the 1992/1993 Adrenalize world tour in September 1993.

Support came from local band Guillotina. Like the 1993 shows, the seats behind the stage were opened up to fans. As shown in the photos below.

The 22 song setlist featured five songs from the current 'Slang' album.

The most interesting change from the 1996 shows was a new longer version of 'Slang'. Essentially the same song but with an extended mid section that included extra percussion sounds playing alongside Rick's live drums.

About 10 to 15 women from the audience were invited on stage to dance as the band played.

The day before this show on 3rd April 1997, the band attended a charity football match and press conference at the Universidad Intercontinental. Possibly the same venue used for a similar event in September 1993.
