Mercury Records UK have announced Def Leppard's new single 'Nine Lives' will be available before it's retail and online release on the new video game "Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock". It will be part of a three-track song pack on April 24th in the US and the UK on May 8th. The album 'Songs From The Sparkle Lounge' will be released in the UK on April 28th in digital format before the May 5th CD release.

"Def Leppard's, Britain's greatest arena rock band, are set to bag another first as new single 'Nine Lives' will be available to buy - and play - through Guitar Hero videogame a week in advance of the single's retail and online release.
65 million album selling Sheffield-based rock band Def Leppard are to make the first single from their forthcoming album 'Songs From the Sparkle Lounge' available to own through videogame Guitar Hero III:Legends of Rock.
Available on the 24th April 2008 as part of three-track Def Leppard song pack, new single Nine Lives will be playable exclusively on Xbox 360 consoles a week ahead of its debut in stores and through online music distribution services.
It is the first ever a band or artist has released a new single ahead of it traditional launch through a videogame."

Owners of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will be able to download the Def Leppard track pack and the game allows players to virtually perform celebrated guitar tracks with its innovative replica guitar peripheral.
Def Leppard have always been pioneers. They are recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the first band to play three concerts in three continents on one day (Tangiers, Morocco; London, England; and Vancouver, Canada) and were among the first set of acts to be recognised by the VH1 Rock Honours in 2006. The band also remain one of only five rock groups who can claim two separate original 10 million plus selling albums in the USA.
Releasing a single through a video game is a bold statement by a band that have never been afraid to take the lead in music and beyond.

The Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Def Leppard song pack - featuring "Nine Lives", "Rock Of Ages" and "Photograph" will be available online for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (North America only) on the 24th April 2008 and for European PlayStation 3 owners from 8th May 2008.
Def Leppard release the new studio album "Songs From the Sparkle Lounge". The album will be available in the UK digitally on the 28th April 2008 and a physical release on 5th May 2008.
