Album Notes By dltourhistory

The seventh studio album released by the band. It marked a return to the 'classic' Leppard sound of big harmonies, backing vocals and pop-rock songs. It also featured the return of Robert John 'Mutt' Lange who contributed his songwriting to three songs as well as guitar and backing vocals. One of these was the album's first single and only big hit 'Promises'. Unlike the previous album this one was again issued on the band's own Bludgeon Riffola label in the UK. Andie Airfix also returned to do the artwork for the first time since 'Adrenalize'. This was to tie the album in with the two previous IA ending album titles 'Pyromania'/'Hysteria'.

The 'Promises' single was issued in the UK as a double A-Side with 'Back In Your Face', a first here. Producer Pete Woodroffe contributed to the wirting of two songs. Track 9 was originally recorded by Vivian's band Clock and co-written by P.J. Smith who had contributed backing vocals for 'Action' on 'Retro-Active'. Ricky Warwick's then band (SIC) contributed hand claps and HEY's to track 3. Formula One world champion and Dublin neighbour Damon Hill, contributed a short guitar part to 'Demolition Man'.

In the UK the album was issued with a Special Limited Edition 3D 'Lenticular' case which when moved shows the band logo, circular lines moving and two lines at the bottom of the sleeve going from left to right. The Japanese version had a new track 'I Am Your Child' which was only issued on that version. In Australia two UK- B-Sides were used as extras.
