Show Intro

"Greetings music lovers and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you again. I've got some great music lined up for you tonight. In fact sixty minutes worth of great music. And seeing as this weekend is the kick off of the footie season I thought well why not. Let's have a little bit of Sham 69 to kick things off."

Sham 69

"Well the terraces may be empty but the spirit will be there no doubt. There from a collection called The Best Of it is Sham 69 with a huge hit they had back in the mid 70s called If the Kids Are United."

AC/DC

"Right then let's head off down to Australia for a couple of tunes shall we. Starting off, yeah you guessed it, AC/DC."

" And before that AC/DC from what I consider to be my favourite ever AC/DC album Powerage from 1978. The song Gimme A Bullet."

Rose Tattoo

"Fantastic slide guitar work there. That is Rose Tattoo. The album is called Blood Brothers. The song Once In A Lifetime."

Lynyrd Skynyrd

"Cor blimey we're gonna be getting the air miles in this week. As we depart the outback of Australia and head off for the swamplands of Florida. This is Lynyrd Skynyrd."

"And before that Lynyrd Skynyrd from their album Second Helping. Which is obviously their second album. The song is Working For MCA."

The Who

"Well if my memory serves me correctly that song was due to be on an album called Lifehouse. A project that Pete Townshend was putting together after Tommy. But it was abandoned so the song was released as a standalone single and became a hit. thank goodness for that. Wonderful bit of work. These days you can find it on the My Generation The Very Best Of The Who collection. The song is called Join Together."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break, and when we come back, we're gonna be taking some mental notes with Split Enz."

Split Enz

"And before that produced by the then Roxy Music guitarist who actually was in Roxy Music. One Mr. Phil Manzanera. ut is from an album called Mental Notes. Which had already been released in their home country of New Zealand. But he took it, remixed it and made it sound a lot better. The album is Mental Notes. The band Split Enz. The song we heard Walking Down A Road."

The Nice

"I bet the legendary composer Leonard Berntsein never once thought that one of his songs would turn out to sound like that one day. That's a band called The Nice who had in their ranks one Mr/ Davy O'List who five years later would almost become a member of Roxy Music. And on keyboards one Mr. Keith Emerson who would go on to massive success with Emerson, Lake And Palmer. There from their Greatest Hits album is The Nice with America."

Roxy Music

"Well talking of Roxy Music as we kind of were. Here they are."

"And before that Roxy Music from their fantastic 1975 album Siren with Whirlwind."

Alice Cooper

"Fellow Planet Rock presenter and shock rocker extraordinaire Mr. Alice Cooper there from his album Dirty Diamonds with a cover of a song that was originally a hit in 1966 for a band called the Left Bank. The song is Pretty Ballerina."

Mick Ronson

"Keeping it glammy for the next few minutes here's a gentleman I've not played for a while and needs another spin. An absolute rock legend on the guitar in a few minutes time with his old boss. But here on his first solo outing is Mick Ronson."

"And before that Mick Ronson from his debut solo album back in 1974. The album was called Slaughter On tenth Avenue. The song Hey Ma Get Papa."

David Bowie

"From the 1973 covers album that was Pin Ups. That is David Bowie with the old Pretty Things number. Their version's not too bad either. The song is Don't Bring Me Down."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time for more of the same only different. So do join me."

"Until then I'm going leave you with this. Quite simply a fantastic album called Bang, Zoom, Crazy...Hello!. This is Cheap Trick and Blood Red Lips. Until next week see ya. "
