Show Intro

"Evening one and all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. What have we got in store for you tonight?. Well in my humble opinion we've got sixty minutes of you know what. Starting off with the Foo Fighters."

Foo Fighters

"I wonder, I really do wonder. Way back in 19954 if Dave Grohl ever thought when he made that record that one day he would be regarded as one of the most important musicians of the 21st century. It is the Foo Fighters but it's essentially is actually a Dave Grohl solo record because if my memory serves correctly he played every instrument and sung every word on that particular record. it is the debut album of the Foo Fighters long before Pat Smear joined and the likes of Taylor Hawkins. It's a great bit of work called Good Grief."

ELO

"Right from a 21st century hero to a 20th century hero. I'm talking Jeff Lynne. This is ELO."

"And before that we heard ELO from the album Face The Music. With a great bit of work called Poker."

Fanny

"One of the first all female rock bands to really make a name for themselves. That is Fanny taken from a collection called The First Time In A Long Time. It was originally on a 1972 album called Fanny Hill. I discovered it as a Flexi-Disc in the NME in the same year. The song is Blind Alley."

Pink Floyd

"Now last Saturday saw the first of what is gonna be three Record Store Days in the UK this year. So things in the Elliott household were a bit thin on the ground when it comes to stuff that ws picked up last weekend. But I have got a couple of things I'm gonna play. They're both live and this first one is really cool. This is old Pink Floyd."

"Before that we heard what I described as old Pink Floyd. In other words Pinky Floyd featuring Syd Barrett. Great live version of Arnold Lane. A song that David Bowie actually sang at the Syd Barrett tribute show at the Albert Hall a few years back. Where he also sung Comfortably Numb but it's never been officially released. So come on people put it out. Maybe next year's Record Store Day."

David Bowie

"Proving once and for all that he probably was human. That is the late great David Bowie suffering from what sounds like a small bout of laryngitis. It's from an album that was released last Saturday for Record Store Day called I'm Only Dancing The Soul Tour '74. It's a version of the title track of his '74 album Diamond Dogs with a little bit of The Rolling Stones It's Only Rock And Roll (But I Like It) thrown in for good measure."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Time for a little break, and when we come back, Toby Jepson, fellow Planet Rock presenter, and his Wayward Sons ."

Wayward Sons

"And before that the Wayward Sons from their latest album. What it's a year or so ago now. The Truth Ain't What It Used To Be. The song Us Against The World."

Redd Kross

"With a little tip of the hat to John Lennon wouldn't you say. I would. It's a great band though. They are Redd Kross from about 1989 I think it was. I listened to that album incessantly back in those days. It is called Phaseshifter. The song we heard Lady In The Front Row."

Iron Butterfly

"Right over and across the big pond we go for a couple of great tunes. Starting off which has if it's true, one of the greatest play on words ever for its title. This is Iron Butterfly."

"And before that we heard Iron Butterfly with a song called In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. Which of course is quite possibly a play on words for In The Garden Of Eden. It's never really been confirmed one way or the other. I guess. I guess we'll never know."

The James Gang

"From the superb 1971 album Thirds. That is The James Gang featuring the mighty Joe Walsh with Walk Away."

Emerson Lake And Palmer

"One thing we do know though. This next lot though for all their prog rock prowess did have an ear for a hit single. This is Emerson, Lake And Palmer."

"And before that we heard Emerson Lake And Palmer from the album of the same name with Lucky Man."

Stealer's Wheel

"Sticking with the acoustic guitars there for a little while longer. We just heard Stealer's Wheel who featured Joe Egan and of course Gerry Rafferty who would go on to have some major solo success. Especially with the hit Baker Street. That song is taken from a collection called Stuck In The Middle With You. Which was another one of their big hits. The one we just heard Star."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then I'm gonna leave you with this. Featuring the original guitar solo from the Destroyer resurrected album. Remixed and re-released in 2012. This is KISS and Sweet Pain. Until next week see ya."
