Def Leppard announced the release of The Def Leppard E.P. for Record Store Day on this day in 2017.

Record Store Day 2017 took place on Saturday 22nd April.

The original three track EP was first released by the band in January 1979 having been recorded over two days in Hull, England in November 1978.

A listing for this new version briefly appeared on Amazon UK in January 2017 with a release date of 14th April (priced £11.15).

This version featured the original song titles and 'Getcha Rocks Off' is listed as the "Single Version" - all newly remastered. It was limited to 4,000 copies in the USA.

The original EP featured 'Ride Into the Sun', 'Getcha Rocks Off' and 'The Overture' on 7" vinyl.

The press release for this EP also announced the continuing vinyl reissue series - "kicks off a series of re-issues from the band."

The original EP was released using the Bludgeon Riffola label name the band made up themselves in 1978 following a bad review in the local Sheffield press.

The very first EP released by Def Leppard, originally printed, glued and assembled by Joe Elliott and his mother in 1976 and sold by the band at their first shows. The EP has not been available on vinyl since a 1989 UK fan club reissue, its newly remastered and released for the first time on a 45 RPM 12" for Record Store Day 2017.
