Show Intro

"Greetings one and all. Welcome once again and welcome to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Always a pleasure to be with you. What have we got lined up for the next 60 minutes. Well in my humble opinion some quite remarkable music. Starting off with this one. So go on then Joan, tell us what she's got.."

Joan Jett And The Blackhearts

"Roundabout right now Def Leppard should have been on tour with Miss Jett along with Poison and Motley Crue in 30-ish stadiums all over the USA but sadly that pesky Coronavirus has laid waste to any such plans and it has been delayed for about a year or so. Not a great big surprise to us. It was on the horizon. We could see it coming. And sadly it has happened. But at least it gives me a year to figure out what that shiny white box is down in the basement. I'm told it's called a washing machine. That is Joan Jett from the album Sinner. Joan Jett And The Blackhearts I beg your pardon. From the album Sinner. With a great cover of an old Sweet song as it happen.s A song called AC/DC."

AC/DC

"And talking of."

"And before that from the same year AC/DC from what is my favourite ever AC/DC album Powerage we heard the song Riff Raff."

The Stranglers

"Been on a bit of a Stranglers bender this week as it happens. Been listening to about 7 or 8 of their albums. Always loved the late Dave Greenfield's keyboard sound. Very reminiscent I suppose of the American band The Doors. But their songwriting was great. They were a little bit more than punk. They had some great songs. The are The Stranglers. The title track their of their second album No More Heroes. Came out in 1978 I believe."

Sparks

"The name Tony Visconti should ring bells if the ears of fans of the likes of T. Rex and David Bowie. For as a producer he was responsible for a lot of their most famous and best work. However he did some wonderful work with other artists as well. Here's a couple of great examples. Starting off with Sparks."

"And before that Sparks from their 1975 album Indiscreet. Both those last two tracks produced by Tony Visconti. The song we just heard The Lady Is Lingering."

Marizane

"From an album called Songs From The Album Hypercube Slideshow. That is a band called Marizane. Whose music I was introduced to by their keyboard player a lovely lady called Debby Share. Who at the time was moonlighting as a backup keyboardist for Heart when they opened for Def Leppard about 8 or 9 years ago. The song we just heard Sad Foolish Robot."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break, and when we come back, yet another song produced by Tony Visconti. But this time it's live and it's somewhat dangerous."

Thin Lizzy

"And before that a fantastic example of audience participation with one of the greatest rock bands of all time. One of the greatest live rock bands of all time. We're talking about Thin Lizzy. the album is Live And Dangerous. The song Baby Drives Me Crazy."

Whitesnake

"Originally featuring on the album Slip Of The Tongue. That is the brand new 2020 remix of the song Judgement Day. it features on the new compilation by Whitesnake called The Rock Album. Been out a couple of weeks now."

Jethro Tull

"Right then. Pucker up your lips and polish your flutes. It's Jethro Tull."

"And before that Jethro Tull featuring the wonderful Ian Anderson. From the 25th anniversary special edition of Aqualung. In other words bright and shiny remaster. the song we heard Mother Goose."

Atomic Rooster

"Born out of the ashes of the Crazy World Of Arthur Brown. That is Atomic Rooster from the collection Sleeping For Years. One of their two big hit singles. A song called Tomorrow Night."

The Cars

"OK so from two great British bands with slight leanings towards Prog. To two bands from over the water who have a more Americana take on he new wave. Starting off with The Cars."

"And before that from 1978 their debut album. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker famous for his work on early Queen albums. We heard The Cars with Good Times Roll."

The Tubes

"Wonderful stuff there from 1983. That is The Tubes. The album Ouside Inside. The song we just heard No Not Again."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it or this week. Been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then I'm gonna leave you with this. Canvey Islands finest. This is Dr. Feelgood taken from the collection Taking No Prisoners. This is She's A Wind Up. Until next week see ya!."
