28 YEARS AGO DEF LEPPARD Perform MAKE LOVE LIKE A MAN On Top Of The Pops

Def Leppard performed their single Make Love Like A Man on UK TV show Top Of The Pops on this day in 1992.

The show was originally broadcast on Thursday 18th June 1992.

The second single from the 'Adrenalize' album was released on 15th June 1992 and this performances was an exclusive for the show before it entered the charts.

This edition was presented by regular host Mark Franklin and guest co-presenter Bob Geldof.

Bob gave them a somewhat humorous introduction of "Here's Def Leppard with Make Love Like a big girls blouse!". Vivian recalled this during one of his Radio Ulster shows in 2018.

Like the other performances on the show from this era Joe's vocal was live while the rest of the band mimed along to the studio version on playback.

BBC Four in the UK recently re-broadcast classic TOTP episodes from the Hysteria era featuring 'Animal' and 'Hysteria'.

And now the only ever time I met Bob Geldof was when he walked into Def Leppard's dressing room when we were both playing Top Of The Pops sometime in the early 1990s. He walks right up to Joe Elliott and he says well he kind of called him a big girl's blouse. Now fortunately Joe has a great sense of humour so Bob does too apparently and that all works for me. Great stuff indeed."
