DEF LEPPARD's PHIL COLLEN Update On The Stadium Tour 2021/Tour Postponement

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen was recently interviewed and spoke about The Stadium Tour 2021 and the 2020 postponement.

Phil spoke to Eddie Trunk for his Trunk Nation show on SiriusXM recently to promote his new 30 day health challenge.

The Stadium Tour 2020 Postponement

Phil spoke of his and the band's disappointment about the tour postponement and explained why it took so long to confirm the rescheduled dates.

He also said the band had decided on a setlist.

The Stadium Tour 2021

Phil said the band are more than ready for the 2021 tour but whether it goes ahead depends on the changing global situation with Coronavirus.

The 2021 dates were announced in mid June and start on 19th June 2021 in Nashville, TN having been due to start on 18th June 2020 in Jacksonville, FL.

20/20 Vision Tour

Phil's lack of mention of the 20/20 tour when talking of the band's future plans suggests that too will soon be moved.

As yet none of these dates which can be seen below have been affected by the pandemic but with all major tours still being moved to 2021 even up to shows announced for August, it seems likely they too might soon get moved.

The Stadium Tour Postponement

"We had the setlist. Everything and it was touch and go really 'cause when everyone kind of closes the country down and you can't travel and you get travel bands and all that stuff. And there's nowhere to play."

"That was the main one. "

"Even hooking up for nest year we had to clear it with, make sure there was no, no know, ball games going off in the parks."

"So you know they're baseball stadiums most of them. So it's, we had to clear that."

"So we've got he green light for next year. Obviously it's crazy. In this country it seems to be crazier than anywhere else."

"That's kind of a...yeah. And this weekend probably didn't help with all the new cases and everything."

"So yeah we just gotta wait till, you know, we get the green light and it's all safe."

"But yeah total bummer. You know we were all good to go. And like I said we had the setlist kind of chose and all of that stuff and rehearsals and all of that booked and then it was like errr no."

"So yeah real drag."

Future Def Leppard Touring/The Stadium Tour 2021

"Yeah the thing we did line up is for sure is for nest year. Literally this tour but it's a year from now."

"That's abut it at the moment 'cause things keep changing. Obviously every five minutes it changes."

"But what it reminds me of is a scene in Caddyshack. You're obviously familiar with Caddyshack right. Where's he's playing Golf and he's going 'I'm playing the best round of my life!'. And it starts thundering and lightning. And it's like, you know, he's shaking his fist and that at the sky."

"It's like that. This is our biggest tour ever. You know it was just like flying out the window. The tickets were going crazy and everything and then it's like we got the plug pulled."

"So it's funny but not really. Obviously 'cause this is such a terrible thing to happen."

"So yeah you know, you accept it for what it is. It's like it can't be helped. Yeah, it's crazy times."

The Stadium Tour 2021/Future Touring

Are you optimistic that this is gonna be able to happen next year?

"I honestly don't know. I'd say it's 50.50. I mean I think, if everyone does what they're supposed to do then we'll be there next summer."

"Literally a week from now next year and I'm really looking forward to it."

"So, you know, again me and Nikki Sixx, we were talking, we were getting in shape for it. We were like going hey how ya doin' and all of this stuff."

"It was awesome and then it was like Ugghh. Had the plug pulled. So we've actually, we've got a year to look even better. So it's gonna be even cooler."

"Hopefully, that's the plan. It depends. It's not us. it's like when you're driving. It's that thing. it's not me you have to watch out for every other idiot on the road."

"So that's where we are right now. But we're ready to go. Almost, yeah."

Rescheduling The Stadium Tour For 2021

"Well yeah. It wasn't just the promoters actually that was secondary. First off it was like Major League Baseball. They have to be, you know, we're playing in their building. So that has to be taken care of first. Then the promoters and then you know we're down on that food chain."

"So we're ready for when everyone else is you know."

"We're absolutely, drop of a hat, we'll be there. Good to go. I'll definitely be ready by then yeah for sure."
