Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Happy New Year everybody. Hope you had great celebrations out there."

"It is a brand new year. Let's hope it's a good one. Let's start the show off with a brand new song. This is Andy Taylor."

Andy Taylor

"Featuring a wonderful vocal from Gary Stringer from Reef. That is Andy Taylor. Yes, that Andy Taylor who used to be in Duran Duran. The song was co-written with Ricky Warwick. It is Love Or Liberation."

The Who

"Now in last week's 2019 round up I played a song from this particular album. A week later I'm loving the album even more. This is The Who."

"Before that The Who. The album is just called Who. There is no THE involved in the title whatsoever. It is the lead off track All This Music Must Fade."

Fleetwood Mac

"Now as we all know this is not a request show but over the holidays I did get a very heartfelt email from a gentleman in Wales whose family have been going through a bit of a time. And he wanted me to mention his daughter. Well her name happens to be Rhiannon. So what a great great excuse to play a fantastic song. That is Fleetwood Mac."

Love Sculpture

"And talking of Wales. Here's the first of two fantastic instrumentals. This one featuring the mighty Dave Edmunds, is Love Sculpture."

"And before that some fantastic work by Dave Edmunds when he was in Love Sculpture. it's from a collection of his called Chronicles. The song Sabre Dance."

Orange Goblin

"Now over the last five or six weeks or so I have had a permanent house guest in a guy called Dave Wolff. Now Wolfie is Vivian Campbell's guitar tech and Def Leppard's backline crew chief if you like. And he's been helping out in the studio fixing up some guitars. He's been helping out doing a few bits of domestics. Putting the tree up, putting the lights on. All that kind of stuff. He even helps out in the kitchen, he's not a bad chef. However when he's downstairs in Joe's Garage fixing up guitars he has a tendency to play some very odd music. But some of that odd music kinda gets under your skin. And I've really fell in love with some of the stuff that he's been playing as I walk past the door stick my head in and go 'Who the hell is this?'. And this happens to have been one of the bands that he was playing. And I really like this. It is Orange Goblin from 2014. The album is called Back From The Abyss. The track Titan."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the mighty Planet Rock. It is the first one of 2020. And when we come back after the break, we're going big and I mean big!. With Be Bop Deluxe."

Be Bop Deluxe

"Wow just wow. What you head there folks is technically five songs in a row. But it actually runs as a mini suite. You just heard Modern Music, Dancing In The Moonlight (All Alone), Honeymoon On Mars, Lost In The Neon World, The Dance Of The Uncle Sam Humanoids and finally Modern Music (Reprise). It is from the 1976 album Modern Music. It is the magnificent Be Bop Deluxe."

The Stranglers

"Now how do you follow that you may ask. Well I would suggest we go in a completely different direction. This is The Stranglers."

"And before that we heard The Stranglers. Now it's on Rattus Norvegicus these days if you buy the CD. At the time I do believe you could actually get the single free in the album, first few thousand copies. but it was a standalone single. It was a fantastic bit of work then and it still is now. It is Go Buddy Go."

The Tubes

"The Down 'n' Outz covered one of their earlier songs on our latest album. But that is The Tubes from their fourth album Remote Control back in 1979. Brilliantly produced by one Mr. Todd Rundgren. The song TV Is King."

Foreigner

"So Lou Gramm from Foreigner has something to tell us. So go ahead Lou. What did she say?."

"And before that we heard Foreigner from the album Agent Provocateur in 1984 with Stranger In My Own House."

KISS

"I'll never forget the first time I saw the life size poster of that band in Bradley's Records shop window on Fargate in Sheffield. Back in 1976. I thought to myself well if they sound anything like they look. It's gotta sound pretty damn good. And it was produced by Bob Ezrin so it does sound amazing. it is one of the greatest rock records ever made. It is KISS from the album Destroyer. That however is a 2012 remix of Flaming Youth."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this particular show. My first show of the year 2020. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then let's go out with this one. It's just over four years since we lost the great man and I think we can all agree he's very much missed. The great man is Lemmy. This is Motorhead with the title track of the album Ace Of Spades. Until next week see ya!."
