Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Still locked down. We're still locked and loaded for 60 minutes of great music. Here's something we don't hear everyday. Bit of Orange Goblin for ya."

Orange Goblin

"Dave Wolff. Affectionately known as Wolfie. Def Leppard's backline crew chief and Vivian Campbell's guitar tech. Who happens to be living with me for the next what? six, seven months. Could be a couple of years. He flew in for an aborted recording session, an aborted recording session that we were gonna do. He was in the air when the lock down kicked in. So we kind of, you know, we have this unintentional house guest. But he's good fun to have around and when he's mending guitars he tends to listen to stuff like this. He introduced me to this band. I heard them through the wall many times to realise that they're actually very very good indeed. They are Orange Goblin. The album is Back From The Abyss. The song we just heard Sabbath Hex."

The Who

"Oh and yes, still loving the new Who album."

"And before that The Who from their latest album which came out what six months ago now. It's just called Who. The song is the lead off track. It is called All This Music Must Fade."

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

"I saw Tom Petty at the Sheffield City Hall as the special guests to Nils Lofgren. Tough act to follow they were. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers from their debut album. Fantastic song called American Girl."

John Miles

"OK so if you were tuned in last week you may remember that the setlist was what I called epic. It was pretty long songs. Went down so well apparently. Got lots of emails this week saying more of the same please. So here's a couple more. Starting off with this one which couldn't be more over the top. This is John Miles."

"And before that one of the most over the top singles to ever be released and actually be a hit. It is John Miles from his debut album Rebel. The song Music."

UFO

"I've actually lost count of the times I've seen that band play that song live. And it never ever fails to hit the spot. It is fantastic isn't it?. It is from the album Lights Out in 1977. It is UFO with Love To Love."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break. And when we come back, a lovely little ditty from Sir Macca and the boys."

The Beatles

"And before that we heard The Beatles from the White Album. But it is the 2018 Giles Martin remix of a lovely little piece of work by Paul McCartney called Martha My Dear."

"And before that The Beatles Martha My Dear."

Slade

"That folks is Slade before they became the Slade that we all know and love. That seemed to be endlessly at Number One. And on Top Of The Pops every week in seven inch platform heels, tartan suits and mirrored top hats, odd shaped guitars etc. That is from 1970 and an album called Play It Loud when they were still wearing Doc Martins, rolled up Levi stay pressed two tone quite possibly. And skinhead haircuts and singing songs about horses. Like that one. it's called Dapple Rose."

The Doors

"OK featuring one of his best ever performances in my humble opinion. This featuring Jim Morrison is The Doors."

"And before that we heard The Doors from the 50th anniversary of their debut album. The song Break On Through (To The Other Side)."

The New Cars

"So in 2006 the remaining members of The Cars, minus the still with us then Ric Ocasek, got back together with Todd Rundgren and formed The New Cars. And they went out on tour and played some old Cars sons. Put out a live album called It's Alive which is very very good. But it wasn't just Cars songs that they played. There was a few Todd Rundgren ones thrown in there as well. And that particular number from Todd's band from 1958 that were called The Nas. Fantastic version of a song called Open My Eyes."

Roxy Music

"Right then for your pleasure I bring you Roxy Music."

"And before that Roxy Music from the same year. The second album For Your Pleasure. The song we heard Editions Of You."

David Bowie

"Somewhere in my vinyl collection I still have a bootleg of that song with Marc Bolan playing lead guitar on it. I was such a fan of Bowie and Bolan back when I was about 10, 11, 12 years old. To have them both play on the same record was like a musical marriage made in heaven. I do believe it actually got an official release back in 1970 but it wasn't much of a chart botherer. And I have to confess that I much much much prefer the version that we just heard featuring Mick Ronson on lead guitar. In fairness to Mick Ronson as well he copied Marc Bolan's parts note for note 'cause he respected his playing so much and thought that the parts were not worth changing. That version is from the 1973 album Aladdin Sane. The song is Prettiest Star."

Show Outro

"And that my friends brings this particular show to a close. It's been a lot of fun as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time for more of the same only a little bit different."

"So until then all I can say is this. Stay strong, stay safe and stay indoors. Until next week let's hope that this keeps your spirits up a little bit. From his 1975 solo debut album this is Ian Hunter with I Get So Excited. Until next week see ya!."
