Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. I hope you're all well and I hope you're all in the mood for some great rock and roll music because, in my humble opinion, we have sixty minutes of magnificent music lined up for ya tonight."

"Including this lot because everybody wants a little bit of The Struts don't they?."

The Struts

"Love 'em, absolutely love 'em. That is The Struts from their album Everybody Wants. The song is Could've Been me."

Boston

"Now here's a couple of American bands that had massive massive success on their debut albums. Starting off with Boston."

"And before that Boston from their second album which came out in 1978. It is the title track Don't Look Back."

Van Halen

"Yes as I said two American bands that had enormous success on their debut albums. But that from their third album is Van Halen. 1980 was the year the album is Women And Children First. The song Everybody Wants Some."

Jethro Tull

"So from two quintessentially American bands to one quintessentially English band. So much so that the leader can stand on one leg and play a flute which he did quite often. This is Jethro Tull."

"And before that Jethro Tull from their Living In The Past compilation. A song actually covered by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band just a few years later. The song is Love Story."

Fleetwood Mac

"Absolutely unrecognisable to the band that featured Peter Green. That is Fleetwood Mac from their 1975 album of the same name which featured for the first time in their line up Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. A fantastic bit of work called Rhiannon."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break and when we come back, we're gonna read up about the second law with Muse."

Muse

"And before that we heard Muse from the album The 2nd Law the Deluxe Version. the song we heard Save Me."

Split Enz

"The album credits say that it was produced by Phil Manzanera from Roxy Music but the truth is it was re-imagined and remixed by Phil Manzanera because the album had already been released a year earlier in their home country of New Zealand. They are Split Enz. the album is called Mental Notes. the song we just heard Lovey Dovey."

Deep Purple

"OK go on then Ian Paice show us what you can do."

"And before that Deep Purple from Machine Head. Some fantastic playing especially from the drummer Ian Paice. The song that we heard Pictures Of Home."

Creedence Clearwater Revival

"One of the few American bands to have consistently hit after hit in the UK throughout the early 70s. They are Creedence Clearwater Revival featuring the wonderfully talented Mr. John Fogerty. From the album Cosmos Factory which came out in I believe 1970. The song is Run Through The Jungle."

Mink Deville

"Right then if you're round about my age hands up if when you first heard this, like me, you thought it was Lou Reed."

"And before that no it wasn't a track from the follow-up of Lou Reed's Sally Can't Dance. it was actually the debut single of Mink Deville. A fantastic bit of work called Spanish Stroll."

Steely Dan

"Some magnificent work there by Steely Dan. It's from the album Can't Buy A Thrill. The song Dirty Work."

Show Outro

"And that my friends for this week is about it. It has been as always a real pleasure bringing these songs to ya. I hope you can join me next week at exactly the same time for more of the same only a little bit different."

"So for this week I'm gonna leave you with this. And we all know that if our heroes grew up in the 70s chances are they're gonna pass away sooner or later. But to go at the very tender age of 63 is particularly sad. I'm talking of Barry Masters from Eddie And The Hot Rods who passed away earlier this week. I saw them live in Sheffield in the mid to late 70s a couple of times and they were absolutely fantastic. Talk about energy. They were called Pub rock but they were so much more than that. And this is one of their massive hit singles that they thoroughly deserved about 1978. So until next week I'm gonna leave you with this. Eddie And The Hot Rods and Do Anything You Want To Do. Till next week see ya."
