Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott was recently interviewed by Chicago radio about the Down 'n' Outz with full audio available.

Joe spoke to Sherman And Tingle to promote the new Down 'n' Outz This Is How We Roll album.

Joe talked about the Down 'n' Outz, Def Leppard Playing Hits/Rarities, Artists Refusing To Play Hits and he answer five quick questions at the end.

He commented on the band's approach to setlists and playing hits live.

Down 'n' Outz

"I am on a promo tour of the Down 'n' Outz stuff. I was in LA, I was in London, now I'm down in Spain and I shall be back home in Dublin in a couple of days time."

Def Leppard Playing Hits/Rarities

"Well it depends what we're doing. We just did a residency in Vegas where we didn't just play the the hits. We went really deep because when you're doing 12 shows. You know psychologically you just have to do that for your own sanity."

"When it comes to going on tour and maybe you're playing with another artist. Like we've been out with KISS or we've been out with...we've had Tesla open for us or Poison or Cheap Trick. You know you've got this really good night of entertainment. Digging deep into the B-Side territory when you're playing for 90 minutes or two hours it can get a bit tedious."

"It's OK to throw in a couple of obscure ones but you're never gonna hear out of my mouth 'Here's every track from our new album'. You know it just sends everybody off to the bar."

Artists Refusing To Play Hits

"You see some of us are lifers and some of us aren't. That's the way I look at it. You know someone like Mick Fleetwood. He's a lifer. He's been in Fleetwood Mac all his life. These are the kind of people that understand that their method of thinking is when people come to see them live they're part of the big picture."

"But a band like The Rolling Stones who don't have any new music. They've had one new song in the last 11 years. They have to rely on their hits, but they've got so many they can change their set up. And we kind of tend to do the same thing a little bit too."

Favourite Def Leppard Song?

"Which is your favourite child if you've got more than one?. That depends on what mood you're in and what mood they're in you know. Songs never really get old in front of an audience. They get old in rehearsal rooms."
