Show Intro

"Aye up! and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the magnificent Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again. But tell me how are we supposed to follow this week's football extravaganza?. How cool if you are a Liverpool, a Tottenham, a Chelsea or an Arsenal fan. I mean an all English final scenario this summer?. Fantastic. And my precious Blades got promoted the week before as well. It's looking great if you're a fan of football. Looking even better if you're a fan of music. We have sixty minutes of great stuff for you tonight?. Starting off with this beauty brand new from Tesla."

Tesla

"It is their highest charting album since 1989. And if those backing vocals sound rather familiar to you and you're a Leppard fan it's because they are Phil Collen who co-produced that particular album. The album is Shock. The band are Tesla. The song we just heard You Won't Take Me Alive."

The Nazz

"So from 2019 all the way back to 1968. This is where it all started off for Todd Rundgren. This is The Nazz."

"And before that we heard Todd himself from 1968 and his band The Nazz. The album is called The Nazz. The song we just heard, which has got an incredibly similar intro to The Who's Can't Explain. The song we heard Open My Eyes."

Steve Hillage

"Having parted company with that most bizarre of bands Gong, you could say that he made an L of a debut album. That is Steve Hillage with a fantastic cover of the Donovan song Hurdy Gurdy Man. It's essentially Utopia the band and Steve Hillage on guitars vacated by one Mr. Todd Rundgren who produced the album."

Rainbow

"And talking of eyes here's Rainbow with the very personal question from one Mr. Ronnie James Dio."

"And before that from the album Rainbow Rising. The recently remastered re-release which features two mixes of every song. There's the New York mixes and there's the Los Angeles mixes. That is the latter version of the song Do You Close Your Eyes."

Montrose

"Featuring one of the best rock voices ever committed to tape for tape was the format in those days being 1974. It is Montrose featuring the wonderfully talented Mr. Sammy Hagar on vocals. The last album he would ever sing for that particular band. It's the last track on said album. It's also the title track. it is Paper Money."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break, and when we come back, we're off to the Red Rose Speedway with Paul McCartney and Wings."

Wings

"And before that we heard from Paul McCartney and Wings the re-released deluxe edition of the 1973 album Red Rose Speedway and what a fantastic package it is. The song that we heard, the very beautiful Little Lamb Dragonfly."

Doctors Of Madness

"They were referred to in the in the media back in the 70s as Proto Punk. They were said to be the bridge between David Bowie and the Sex Pistols. Whatever! For me they were just a damn fine band. And I'm very pleased to announce that later this year there will be a brand new album. And I know this for a fact because I'm on it. Yes their main man Mr. Kidd Strange made me an honourary doctor ad I sing a couple of backing vocals on two or three songs and so the first brand new music in 40 years due soon from the Doctors Of Madness. Now they made some astonishing music back between '76 and '78 and there is the title track from their last ever album So Far. The song is Sons Of Survival."

Alice Cooper

"Right then it's time to crank up the heat. This is a very paranormal Mr. Alice Cooper."

"Before that we heard Alice Cooper from his last studio album Paranormal. Reforming some of the original band back together on a few of those songs. Also featuring on drums on many of the other songs Mr. Larry Mullen from U2. The song we just heard Fireball."

Be Bop Deluxe

"I've often referred to on this show as that band being Wakefield's finest. But the truth is on the lineup of that particular the drummer is from Birmingham. The bass player is a mauri who spent time in New Zealand and Australia before moving to the UK. The only guy from Wakefield was the leader of the band Mr. Bill Nelson. The band are Be Bop Deluxe and from 1975 the album Futurama which has just had a 2019 overhaul. That is a brand new remix of the hit single that never was Maid In Heaven. And trust me the whole album is fantastic. If you're a Be Bop fan and you haven't got it yet put it on your list, it's superb."

Deep Purple

"Oh go on then I just can't resist it's just like buses. There's none and then two come at once. Here's another Fireball for ya. This time it's Deep Purple."

"And before that from 1971 absolutely fantastic stuff. It is the title track of the Deep Purple classic Fireball."

Free

"So what can we say about Paul Rodgers that's not been said before?. The best blues rock vocalist to ever to come out of the UK. The best blues rock vocalist to ever walk the earth?. I say all the above really. Absolutely phenomenal stuff there from Free. The album is Free At Last. The song Catch A Train."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, for this particular show, is about it. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time for more of the same only a little different."

"So until then I'm gonna leave you with this. And I just can't stop playing it. It's fantastic. Yes I love my old classic rock but I love my new classic rock too. And this is just wonderful. It is The Struts from their latest album Young And Dangerous. 21st Century Dandy. Till next week see ya!."
