Show Intro

"Greetings music lovers and welcome to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Which this week is coming to you from Oslo in Norway. Now where have I been since we were last together?. Last Saturday we were at Hellfest in France. The following day we were at Graspop which is the Belgian equivalent. And then lo and behold we had three days off right in the middle of this tour which is beautiful because yours truly got to go home. Starting up again in Trondheim this Thursday gone. Now let me tell you if you were at Download, Trondheim which is almost in the arctic circle in the very north of Norway. It was in the mid 40s at best and it was raining and it was windy and the stage was dangerous."

"And it was a great crowd. But not exactly what you'd call summer time. I'm exactly one hour in front of you right here and we're on stage in two and a half hours. So we better get on with it. I've got sixty minutes of great music for ya. And it hasn't gone unnoticed that as we are in Norway, we just saw the Lionesses beat the Norwegian team in the quarter finals of the ladies World Cup finals. So in celebration of that fact we're gonna start the show off with ladies. This is The Runaways."

The Runaways

"Yes as we went on stage in Trondheim the Lionesses were already one nil up. So as we were negotiating the skating rink that was the stage our stage manger was stood side stage sticking two fingers up as the second one went in and three as the third one went in. Slightly distracting but it did take our minds off the freezing cold and pretty dangerous conditions. That is The Runaways from 1976 from their debut album. The song Cherry Bomb."

Kiki Dee

"Now this next lady started off her professional career working in Boots the chemist in Bradford. But a few years later she was topping the charts all over the world with Elton John. But somewhere in between she did this. She is Kiki Dee.

"And before that from 1974. Kiki Dee actually credited to the Kiki Dee Band. The smash hit single title track from the album I've Got The Music In Me."

Rod Stewart

"Taken from the first album that I ever purchased in 1971 for two pounds and eleven pence from .Sine Electrical in Broomhill in Sheffield. That is Rod Stewart. The album is Every Picture Tells A Story. The song his version of The Temptations classic I Know I'm Losing You."

Grand Funk Railroad

"Now occasionally people that don't know Def Leppard that well level this accusation at us. To which we normally respond Ooh I'm not doing this accent love. This is Grand Funk Railroad."

"And before that we heard Grand Funk Railroad. Produced as it happens by Todd Rundgren. The title track of their album We're An American Band."

The Nazz

"Some amazing American psychedelia for you right there from 1968. That is The Nazz featuring Todd Rundgren with a fantastic song called Open My Eyes."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show all the way from Oslo in Norway this week. It's time for a little break, and when we come back, we're gonna experience a little tenderness from Duff McKagan."

Duff McKagan

"And before that Duff McKagan from his brand new solo album Tenderness. And if you like your rock music a little bit kind of country, a little bit laid back. You will love this record. A fantastic record. Well done Duff. The song we heard Don't Look Behind You."

The Rolling Stones

"Nice to see The Rolling Stones are once again treading the boards after Mick Jagger's heart scare. He's running around on stage like a man a third his age. It's quite inspiring I have to say. That is The Rolling Stones from the album Exil On Main Street with Tumbling Dice. Huge hit for them."

Pug Wash

"So I think I'm gonna keep it laid back for the next couple of tunes. Starting off with this. This is Pug Wash."

"And before that Pug Wash featuring the incredibly talented Tommy Walsh. The album is Silver Lake. The song we heard Better Than Nothing At All."

The Band

"From an album that's often found in those best albums of all time lists. That is The Band from 1968. It's their debut album Music From Big Pink. The song we heard The Wait."

The Stranglers

"OK we've been laid back for a little while now. I think something better change and who better to do that than The Stranglers."

"And from just a year after that from their second album No More Heroes we heard The Stranglers with Something Better Change."

The Clash

"The opening track of their debut album back in 1977. And setting out their manifesto very nicely indeed. That is The Clash with Clash City Rockers."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Oslo in Norway, is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time on a day off in Barcelona. The day before the final show of this European run."

"So until then I'm gonna leave you with this. From the redux version of Everybody Wants. This is The Struts with the magnificent Black Swan. Until next week see ya!."
