DEF LEPPARD Play HYSTERIA Album In SONDERBORG, DENMARK (Show Report)

Def Leppard played a show on the 2019 European tour earlier tonight in Sonderborg, Denmark with 14 songs performed.
The show took place at the 35,000 capacity Slagmarken (The Battlefield).
The third show of the Def Leppard 2019 European tour was played before an estimated crowd of around 24,000 fans.
Def Leppard played before headliners Bon Jovi from 7pm to 8:15pm local time CEST which is one hour ahead of the UK.
As a warm-up for Friday's Download Festival show they played the full 'Hysteria' album to open their set. The first time it has been played in Denmark.
Following rain in the area the sun came out for Def Leppard's set prompting Joe to wear sunglasses. The rain clouds came back for the start of Bon Jovi's headline set which opened with the title track of their last album after which the tour is named.
The fifth date of Bon Jovi's 'This House Is Not For Sale' European tour. The tour started in Moscow, Russia on 31st May and has also played in Tallinn, Estonia, Stockholm, Sweden and Stavanger, Norway.
The first time the two band have shared a bill since the July 2005 Live 8 concert in Philadelphia, PA.
The only other times being the two German Monsters Of Rock shows in Nuremberg and Mannheim on 30th and 31st August 1986. Played just two weeks after Rick Allen's first major comeback show at Donington Park.
The 8th show in Denmark but first ever in Sonderborg.
Previous Appearances In Denmark
Danish fans had to wait seven years before the band returned to play another festival this time in Esbjerg.
Mike & The Mechanics featuring Mike Rutherford of Genesis were also on the bill.
A return to the country after 12 years for a festival show in a delightfully(?) named city.
Also on the bill were Ace Of Base and one Alanis Morissette.
The second show to be played at the KB Hallen venue during the Slang tour with Terrorvision in support.
A return to the capital city on the main Adrenalize tour in 1993 with Ugly Kid Joe as support.
This show saw former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant guest with the band during the encore. Singing a medley of Zep songs in place of 'Photograph'.
The first of two Adrenalize era shows with this one taking place during the 13-Day warm-up club tour in 1992.
The first headline show by the band in the country during the Hysteria European tour of 1988 with M.S.G. in support.
A show on the 1983 Pyromania tour with Rock Goddess in support.
2019 Setlist/Staging
With only 1 hour and 15 mins to play the band chose to warm up for the Download Festival by opening with the full 'Hysteria' album.
This was followed by 'Rock Of Ages' and 'Photograph'. It seems likely Friday's show will be the same 17 song set played in the UK and Ireland in December on the Hysteria tour.
Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi played a 22 song setlist including greatest hits and many tracks from their latest studio album 'This House Is Not For Sale'.
The next two shows in Germany come 31 years after both bands played on the same bill for two shows in 1986 in the same country. Any guest spot during BJ's set seems more likely at the final show in Munich.

The full album played for the first time in Denmark. It's likely that tracks 8, 9, 11 and 12 were played for the first time in Denmark. The setlist for the 1988 Copenhagen show is not known. 'Run Riot' and 'Excitable' were definitely not played at that show but 'Don't Shoot Shotgun' and 'Love And Affection' were played a handful of times on that tour leg.
