DEF LEPPARD Will Honour STEVE CLARK/Invite PETE WILLIS To Rock Hall Induction

Def Leppard 2019. Pete Willis/Steve Clark

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen was recently interviewed by US radio and mentioned the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction.

Phil spoke to DJ Eddie Trunk for his Trunk Nation show in December.

The interview was done the day before the Sheffield show at FlyDSA Arena.

He talked about the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, honouring Steve Clark and Pete Willis being included.

Phil commented on the band winning the Fan Vote and being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame where they will honour Steve Clark and also invite Pete Willis to join them at the ceremony.

Eddie Trunk/Trunk Nation - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

Honouring Steve Clark

"Well I'm seeing his Mum tomorrow. I spoke to her the other day, Beryl. And her and Steve's brother Chris are coming down to the show tomorrow. We're actually in Sheffield, you know, ironically of all places. You know it's where the band's from and you know I haven't seen Beryl for three years. And you know I miss Steve every day. It still chokes me up even to this point just seeing him on the screen every night."

"You know we have all these screens in our show. We're doing Hysteria and it's kind of. He's very prominent. He has a very prominent presence, you know, even now on stage with us. So that's really cool."

"You know I hope she can make it out. You know it's a long way. She's in her 80s now. His Dad's still alive. They're both, you know, they're getting up there and it's whether they wanna come. It would be great if they did and if not we totally understand."

Pete Willis Inclusion

"I don't know but we're definitely, we're gonna invite him down. He has to be - he is part of it. You know, not as much as Steve was, but you know he's definitely part of the stuff. You know I knew him before I joined the band. And you know whatever reasons and everything but he's integral, absolutely. So yeah it would be a sin if he didn't, you know, wasn't part of it. So yeah we're gonna invite him for sure."

"Well I thought it was gonna be the other way around because he was an original member. He's on the first two. Actually he's on Pyromania as well. Both of us are on Pyromania. So to be quite honest they way that they treated KISS back in the day. Which was, you know, they didn't wanna have Tommy and Eric. They'd been in the band longer than the other guys. And it's like they work really hard. So I thought it was gonna be like me and Viv. Yeah, you can watch it on TV. But obviously you know I was on all the classic stuff, wrote a lot of the classic stuff and that."

"But yeah I think they should just invite everyone who's been part of the band you know. And I do think that whoever's doing it right now. It's a lot more organised, it's a lot more obvious, it's a lot more logical than what it used to be."
