Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the fantastic Planet Rock. I hope you're all well and revving up for the Christmas holidays. I, since we were last together, have had one of the most mental weeks you could ever imagine. So many emotions. We lost people, we've had birthdays to cleebrate. Brand new release and the announcement of one of the biggest tours of next year."

"2020 will see Def Leppard back in stadiums in the US starting in early July with our good friends Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, with Poison and yes with this crowd, they're back!."

Mötley Crüe

"So think back about four years ago I think it was that a certain band singed a binding contract. Apparently in their own blood, saying that they would never again set foot on stage together as a band. Well guess what?. They have torn up the contract. Oh and how we had a good giggle with them about that when I was in L.A. just a couple of days ago. I said tio Nikki Sixx, I said, 'So you have now joined the ranks of Frank Sinatra, Cher and David Bowie' and he just looked at me and he said 'After the movie came out this was always gonna happen'. And good to have them back. They are Mötley Crüe and there we just heard from the album Dr. Feelgood. A fantastic bit of work. Actually it's a nice mixture of Monstrose and Sweet that intro. It is Kickstart My Heart."

Poison

"And as I mentioned we also have Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and Poison coming out on this tour. So let's see what they've got to offer."

"And before that from the album "Poisoned" we heard Poison with their version of the David Bowie classic Suffragette City."

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

"The influence of British Glam Rock always shines through on that ladies music. She's a fantastic artist. She is Joan Jett there with The Blackhearts. It's taken from the Fit To Be Tied Greatest Hits collection. It is I Hate Myself For Loving You."

Def Leppard

"OK so moving on from giant stadium shows to birthdays. Rick Savage just had one, and Phil Collen is just about to have one. So I thought I'd pick a couple of songs where they both are featured as lead singers. So over to my dear friend Mr. Rick Savage."

"And before that from the same sessions it's Rick Savage who again played every instrument himself. A great rework of that classic Queen song from Sheer Heart Attack Dear Friends."

Def Leppard

"Brilliantly done in my humble opinion there scratching his inner Iggy Pop that is Phil Collen. It is from the YEAH! sessions back in 2006. So it's technically Def Leppard but in actual fact Phil played everything himself on that particular song. It is his verision of the Iggy And The Stooges classic Search And Destroy."

"And talking of Queen. When we come back after the break, I swear to you it isn't Queen. It's sounds like the beginning of one of their songs, but it's not."

Heavy Metal Kids

"And before that. Yes, that intro did sound somewhat like Now I'm Here didn't it. It is though from three years later. From the album Kitsch it's the Heavy Metal Kids with Squalliday Inn."

Down 'n' Outz

"That is the brand new singkle from the Down 'n' Outz. It's the second from the album This Is How We Roll which came out in October. The song is called Creatures."

John Lennon

"So as I mentioned earlier Phil Collen celebrates his birthday 8th December. Sadly it's also the same day that we celebrate 38 years without this immense talent. Here doing his thing with his very good friend Mr. Elton John."

"And before that we heard the late great John Lennon who on 8th December will have been gone 39 years. I can't believe it's that long. But there with his great friend Elton John and doesn't it sound like they're having an absolute ball in the studio. The song we heard Whatever Gets You Through The Night."

The Sutherland Brothers And Quiver

"I play that because just over a week ago or so we got the news that Ian Sutherland had passed away after an illness. Ian was a member of the band Sutherland Brothers And Quiver who had some fantastic success in the 70s. A huge hit with Arms Of Mary. They wrote Sailing which was an enormous hit for Rod Stewart of course. And that the first song that I ever heard from them back in 1973 Dream Kid."

Be Bop Deluxe

"Right I'm gonna try something new here that I've never done before and if it works out pretty well I may do this on a semi regular basis. It's gonna be called Different Song, Same Name. Starting off with Be Bop Deluxe."

"And before that we heard Be Bop Deluxe from a 1976 album called Modern Music. But it is the 2019 remix and what a great remix it is. And both songs are called Dancing In The Moonlight."

Thin Lizzy

"Well that never gets old for me and I firmly believe it's down to the fantastic production by one Mr. Tony Visconti who did some great work in the early '70s with the likes of T. Rex and David Bowie. He finally brought great production to their studio albums. They are Thin Lizzy. taht is from the album Bad reputation."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"Until then let's leave you with this. We just heard two songs with the same title. How about one song that's actually three songs all rolled into one. This is fantastic. This is the Sensatioinal Alex Harvey Band from the album Next in 1973. With The Last Of The Teenabe Idols. Until next week see ya!."
