Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again. It is The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It's great to be with you as always. Got about 60 minute's worth of amazing music line dup. In my humble opinion. Starting off with some classic Van Halen."

Van Halen

"From an album that got played to death on the Def Leppard tour bus on our first American tour because we were all crammed on to the one bus. Band and crew. And we only had a couple of albums and that was one of them on a cassette. The album is Women And Children First. It's 1980 Van Halen And The Cradle Will Rock."

Free

"So from the West Coast of the USA to the North East of the UK. This is Free."

"And before that we heard Free from the album Free At Last with the wonderful bit of work called Catch A Train."

The Rolling Stones

"From the very bizarrely titled Goat Head's Soup. I don't think you'll find much of that served up this Christmas do you. That is The Rolling Stones from 1973 I believe it is with a song called Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)."

Mott The Hoople

"Now they are as you all well know my favourite band and I've not played them for quite a while. So here from their second album is a little bit of Mott The Hoople."

"And before that we heard Mott The Hoople with a love letter to their fans from their second album in 1070. The album is Mad Shadows. The song You Are One Of Us."

Hozier

"Ge went to school with one of my god daughters. He is managed by her mother who is one of my best friends in the entire world. And just a couple of nights ago I watched him strutting his stuff at the 3Arena in Dublin on the second of two sold out nights and I was sat next to his parents. He is Hozier from his debut album which came out in 2014. I can't believe that's five years ago. Great bit of work called Jackie And Wilson."

"You're listening to The Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock. And when we come back, a couple of tunes from a couple of the tastiest guitar players that you will ever hear."

Mick Ronson

"And before that we heard Mick Ronson from a posthumous album called Just Like This. Now I was working with Mick Ronson on an album that came out sadly after he passed away called Heaven And Hull. It was released in 1994. I was working with him all through '93 on it. And we desperately tried to get the rights to this particular song, but the people that had it wouldn't let it go. So sadly we had to leave it off. Finally they did see the light and they released it themselves on an album called Just Lie This. And thank goodness 'cause it's a wonderful bit of work featuring a fantastic guitar solo. It is the late great Mick Ronson with Crazy Love."

George Harrison

"I was just reading the liner notes of that particular 2001 re-release and George Harrison. For it is he that we just heard. Acknowledges for the very first time that a very young Phil Collins was involved in the recording of that album. He also acknowledges that most of the musicians that played on it weren't allowed to be credited at the time because back in the day record labels didn't like it if you hob-nobbed with a musician that was signed to a different company. So you either had to do it under a false name. Or you had to do it on the qt. But I think we all know that throughout his career George Harrison was heavily involved with Eric Clapton personally and professionally. And you can hear him all over that album. What a great album it is. The album is All Things Must Pass. The song we just heard Wah Wah."

Strawbs

"Now I've got a mate up in Sheffield that will be ecstatic when he hears this because this band you just never hear them on the radio. This is the Strawbs."

"And before that we heard the Strawbs from the remastered and expanded edition of Deep Cuts with The Soldier's Tale."

E.L.O.

"Magnificent stuff there from E.L.O. featuring of course the very wonderfully talented Mr. Jeff Lynne. It is from their 1975 album Face The Music. It is Nightrider."

Ricky Warwick

"OK so what do you think Johnny Or Elvis?. Or shall we just let Ricky Warwick decide."

"And before that Ricky Warwick from his second solo album Love Many, Trust Few with Johnny Or Elvis."

The Who

"So I ordered my new Who album online of course it didn't arrive in time for me to play anything this week. Still waiting for it to arrive and I'm desperate to hear it, but until it comes we shall play some old stuff. There from the My Generation The Very Best Of we just heard The Who with Pictures Of Lily."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, is about it for this week. It has as always been a real pleasure doing this for ya. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"Until then I'm gonna leave you with this. The same word three times. From the album Motorhead. This is Motorhead with Motorhead. Till next week see ya!."
