Show Intro

"Evening all. Welcome all once again it is the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. This week it is coming to you all the way from Las Vegas in Nevada which is the last night of our third leg. We've got one more leg to go on this mammoth tour that we have been on across the USA with Journey. And what a strange week it ihas been since we were last together folks. I caught the most ridiculous head cold. Please tell me how you catch a head cold in 80 degree weather. Answers on a postcard.

"Also you may have read if you've been on the Internet and you're a Leppard fan that we had to cancel a show in Albuquerque actually as it was taking place. Journey were five songs into their set when the winds picked up so heavily that they were literally blowing the lights and the PA five, six feet across the stage. It was so dangerous we had no option but to cancel. We've luckily been able to reschedule it to the 18th September if anybody's listening from over that side of the world. Which basically means our 14 day break is now a 10 day break. But that's OK it's no as annoying as what I'm about to tell ya. Guess who is playing tonight at exactly the same time as we are 200 yards across the road?. I'll give ya one guess."

Queen

"Recorded in 1977 as part of a session for the John Peel show on the Beeb. And I had it for many years on bootleg, but now I've got the nice cleaned up version of the 40th anniversary re-release of News Of The World. That is our next door neighbours for at least one night, Queen."

Sweet

"OK so if you had a band whose vocal harmonies sounded a bit like Queen, but the music sounded a lot like Deep Purple. Who do you think it would be?."

"And before that we heard Sweet. The mighty Sweet from the album Sweet Fanny Adams 1974 with the fantastic Set Me Free."

The Struts

"Well that gets the sounds a bit like or heavily influenced by Queen section of the show out of the way doesn't it?. That is The Struts. New album on it's way, can't wait. That's from the album Everybody Wants however, the song Could've Been Me."

Slade

"Now in fairness The Struts don't really sound like Queen. It's Luke that sounds a bit like Freddie Mercury. I think the band actually sound a little bit like this crowd."

"And before that we heard the mighty Slade with the anthem to end all anthems Cum On Feel The Noize."

Montrose

"Originating out of the Bay Area close to San Francisco which is where the Def Leppard/Journey tour was gonna pick up until we rescheduled the Albuquerque show. It is Montrose from their debut album in 1973 with a great bit of work called Bad Motor Scooter. Fantastic guitar by Ronnie and brilliant singing by Sammy Hagar."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show all the way from Las Vegas in Nevada this week. It's time for a little break and when we come back, well even in their quietest moments this band...[cut off by adverts]."

Supertramp

"And before that Supertramp from the album Even In The Quietest Moments with the wonderful Fool's Overture."

Family

"OK come on then listeners of a certain age. Tell me, Family, Prog Rock or not Prog Rock?. Because you don't have hit singles as a Prog Rock band very often. They had one or two. From their Best Of Family And Friends album. That is indeed Family featuring Roger Chapman on vocals with the song My Friend The Sun."

Sensational Alex Harvey Band

"Right ladies cover your eyes. Gentleman put on your budgie smugglers. This is the Sensational Alex Harvey Band."

"And before that we swam right up the River Of Love. From the album The Impossible Dream in 1974. The band of course the Sensational Alex Harvey Band."

Ian Hunter

"Originally recorded by Mott The Hoople. In fact one of only two songs that Mick Ronson played on as a member of Mott The Hoople. The other one being Saturday Gigs, but that is the version from Ian Hunter's debut solo album in 1975. A great bit of work called Lounge Lizard. Great guitar playing by Mick Ronson."

KISS

"Right here destroying everything that stood in their way is KISS."

"And before that we heard KISS from what is generally regarded as their massive breakthrough album. 1976 produced by one Mr. Bob Ezrin. The album is Destroyer. The song Flaming Youth."

E. L. O./Electric Light Orchestra

"Well for a man who disappeared off the touring circuit for well over 20 years he's certainly come out of his shell recently hasn't he? because he has extended his tour way into next year. I am talking about Jeff Lynne and E.L.O.. Which is a great thing for me 'cause I've never seen them but I'm really looking forward to catching a show next year. There they are though from the album Face The Music with a song called Poker."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way fromLas Vegas in Nevada , is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time god willing from god knows where because I shall be on a little holiday."

"Until then though gonna leave you with this. Well we are in Las Vegas. Till next week see ya!."
