DEF LEPPARD Film For Tour Documentary In PHOENIX, AZ (Show Report)

Def Leppard 2018. By Radiobabe

Def Leppard played another show with Journey on the 2018 North American tour last night in Phoenix, AZ with 16 songs performed.

The show took place at the 18,422 capacity Talking Stick Resort Arena.

The band last played Phoenix on 20th September 2016 on the Summer Tour 2016.

Lep fan Radiobabe spotted a notice to fans entering the venue which stated filming would be taking place for an upcoming documentary.

This appears to be linked to posts made back in March by Ben McFarlane who had said documentary footage was being filmed during the rehearsals for the Royal Albert Hall show. No specific details were given or any release schedule for the footage.

Similar notices have been seen at venues the last time the band filmed for DVD's/Blu-rays in Las Vegas 2013 and Detroit 2016.

Ben has continued posting photos from the tour and it seems likely the documentary could be a document of the entire 2018 tour. He was also at the rehearals in New York and New Jersey in June before the current North American tour started. View many of his posts below.

The 19th show the band have played in Phoenix and third time at this venue which was opened in June 1992.

The first visit to Phoenix took place in June 1980 at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum as support to Ted Nugent.

The first outdoor show took place in November 1981 with Blackfoot at the original Compton Terrace on the High 'n' Dry tour.

The Veterans Memorial Coliseum was played again in April 1983 as support to Billy Squier on the Pyromania tour before the band's first headline show at Compton Terrace in September.

They came back to the Veterans Memorial Coliseum for a one end show in November 1987 during the Hysteria tour when the stage could not fit in the middle.

The new Compton Terrace was played in August 1988 on the same tour and featured in the notorious Tour Manager' video showing the band flying to the show in a helicopter.

Ak-Chin Pavilion was played for the first time in July 1993 (as Desert Sky Pavilion) on the Adrenalize tour.

That venue was then played on most of the visits since then in 1996, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2015 and the last show here in 2016.

The exceptions being the December 1999 show at the Celebrity Theatre on the Euphoria radio promo tour.

And a show at America West Arena in December 2002 on the first US leg of the X/Ten tour.
