25 Years Ago DEF LEPPARD's TONIGHT Single At Number 34 In The UK

Tonight 1993.

Def Leppard's classic Tonight single reached Number 34 in the UK charts on this day in 1993.

The fifth single to be released from the Adrenalize album in the UK.

It was released on 19th April 1993 just over one year since the release of the album.

It entered the chart at Number 34 on the UK Top 40 singles chart on 1st May 1993. Ending a run of four Top 20 singles from the album in the UK.

It would only spend two weeks on the Top 100 chart falling to Number 58 in week two.

The song dated from all the way back to 1984 and the initial writing sessions for Hysteria in Dublin, Ireland.

The single also peaked at Number 62 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart on the same day. It spent nine weeks in total on the Hot 100.

The late George Michael and Queen were at Number One with the 'Five Live (EP)'. The EP featured five live songs including 'Somebody To Love' recorded at the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute concert along with 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives' from the same show. A duet between George and Lisa Stansfield.

Both this and Def Leppard's single gave proceeds to the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

Def Leppard entered the chart above then current support act Ugly Kid Joe who were at Number 35 with 'Cats In The Cradle'.

All four rock acts in the Top 40 were next to each other in the chart with Little Angels at 33 and Poison at 32.
