JOE ELLIOTT On DEF LEPPARD's New Reissue Box Set/Next Studio Album

Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott has been interviewed by the Irish press and mentioned new material.

He was speaking in the latest issue of Hot Press magazine in Ireland to promote to December 1st show in Dublin at 3Arena.

Joe talked about the digital streaming deal/announcement, reissue series/vinyl box set, UK/Irish Hysteria & More tour, recording the Hysteria album, Dublin memories, third Down 'n' Outz studio album, Emm Gryner collaboration and new Def Leppard studio songs.

He says the band's first vinyl box set will be released soon and work will continue on new material.

Also discussed is the upcoming Down 'n' Outz album and his ongoing work with Canadian singer Emm Gryner.

The latest issue of Hot Press was released on 22nd February and features Solange on the cover.

Upcoming Vinyl Box Set/Reissue Series

"It'll happen in stages. They'll be lots of rare tracks and extras. I know that the first box set is complete, as in we've done the research, chosen the tracks and the booklet has been put together, so it'll go into production soon."

UK/Ireland Hysteria & More Tour

"The gig in London sold-out in half-an-hour, so they had to add Wembley at the end of the tour. We didn't want to tour just for the sake of it, and as we have no new album, we knew we had to make it an event."

Third Down 'n' Outz Studio Album

"I had the guys over here for the last few days recording actually. We have a record in place, it needs editing and cleaning up, but it's getting there. I think it will surprise a lot of people; there's only one cover, which is nothing to do with Mott or Ian, it's totally different. The album has hints of Elton John, Queen, Humble Pie, a bit of Bowie and lots of piano- driven rock n roll."

Emm Gryner Album

Also in the pipeline is an album with Emm Gryner, which he describes as a "Hunky Dory version of Plant and Krauss", although thus is at the mercy of both artists' hectic schedules.

Next Def Leppard Studio Album/New Songs

"Our heads are spinning with ideas, but we are going to take our time. We don't have a deal for a new album and we don't want one. When it's done, we'll see who wants it the most and who's going to work hardest for it. That's how we will make records from now on. I don't want to be tied down to, 'Well, you owe us another record and we want it in six weeks', I'm done with all that. We don't want to pander, this is our art and if you don't like it then don't buy it. We will make records for our own pleasure and hopefully our audience will follow us."
