Torg & Elliott - Joe Elliott Interview Quotes

Def Leppard/Journey 2018 North American Tour

"Yes we're using a time machine, no it's bigger than that. That's the great thing about it. It's like 12 years on or whatever it is. Yeah and it was an amazing tour which is why revisiting it. They're taking it into a much bigger and better kinda tour really. I mean we're going into stadiums on some of these shows. It's gonna be huge and it's long overdue because we had a real ball touring with those guys and we've always liked touring with another name band."

"As you'll know if you check out what we've been doing since that Journey tour. We've toured with the likes of like Heart and Styx and REO Speedwagon and Tesla and Poison, Cheap Trick. The list is endless."

Def Leppard's Catalogue On Streaming/Download Sites

"Well we wanted to get the deal right you know. I mean the fact is that we never had - when our contract with the label ran out, the deal was so old that. We signed our deal in 1979. There was no digital. So it was kind of, it was basically nobody owned it. We owned the songs but there was no digital rights if you like. So we had to negotiate that correctly. We wanted the best deal for the band. But what we also needed is we wanted everything out there under the one umbrella all at once."

"Sp we had to kind of make sure that we had everything, basically all the ducks in a row. And we sat down and negotiated with Universal. Our then ex-label but now label again if you like. And they were very enthusiastic to do this deal and it made sense and to announce it today that we're on every streaming site that you can name. And that everything's there to download. I'm talking we're going right back to '79 with The Def Leppard E.P. The thing that got us our deal in the first place. Right up to the last album which came out in 2015 and everything in between. And some like, some rare stuff. We found a lost session that we'd forgotten about. So we've really kinda, we wanted to make sure that we had it all right. We needed to get it all mastered for downloads. That takes time."

"And having finished the tour three/four months ago. We've had the opportunities to make sure that we knew what we were doing and weren't rushing into it. We wanted it done right, not quickly."

Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

"Will we be?. I mean it's not up to us. And the sad thing is it's not up to you or any of our fans. It's up to a faceless committee who look for credibility over say commerciality which I understand. But they see the value in Louden Wainwright III over Lynyrd Skynyrd and I don't. So I've heard rumour, and it is only rumour at the moment, but I've heard rumour that they are bringing in a kind of a fan vote thing for this and they're changing the committee thing up. So these tuxedoed like mannequins that you'd normally see in a shop window that apparently are the committee is maybe gonna be a thing of the past."

"I would soften my approach and my opinion on the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame if it's basically kind of fan voted because then it's real. The people that bought your records, the people that see you live. It's the people that mean something to ya. It's not about the executives that decide theat they want their neighbour in. Who just happens to be like Lou Reed. Again like I said I have nothing against Lou Reed. I own lots of the late great Lou Reed's music. But the fact that Skynyrd were like turned down seven times I think and Sabbath were and Judas Priest just got rejected this year. It's you know, I'm not - at this moment in time I'm not a big fan."

Who Would Induct Them

"Er let me think. Brian May from Queen would be my first choice. He's a good friend or Brian Johnson from AC/DC. Er...David Letterman... I don't know."
