Rock In Rio 2017
Def Leppard have been heavily rumoured to play shows in Brazil, Argentina and Chile this September by the local press.
Local press in Brazil says the band will be confirmed soon for the Rock In Rio 2017 festival in Rio De Janeiro in late September.
They will play on the same day as either Aerosmith or Bon Jovi (who were confirmed recently for the 21st/22nd September days).
It is suggested the band "might" be playing Rock In Rio on the 21st September. The same day Aerosmith are listed as headliners with Billy Idol and Scalene also on the bill. Or the 22nd when Bon Jovi headline and Alter Bridge also play.
A local website says further South American dates will then take place in Santiago, Chile in September and then Buenos Aires, Argentina in the first week of October.
The exact details of these two shows is a bit unclear due to the translation from Portuguese.
Guns N' Roses currently only list shows up to September 8th in Texas and Aerosmith up to 8th July in Tenerife.
These shows seem to be much more likely than the last rumours of South American dates from May 2016.
The last (and only) South American tour by the band was in April 1997, almost 20 years ago, and only Joe has since been back for a few shows with Rock 'n' Roll All-Stars and Kings Of Chaos.
Def Leppard had been due to play the original Rock In Rio festival in January 1985 at two shows supporting AC/DC and Queen. They pulled out before Rick's car accident to continue working on 'Hysteria'.
Update - An Argentine journalist, Christian Acosta, has linked Def Leppard to a Sao Paulo show in a Tweet about the tour rumours (translated below).

A festival with Aerosmith/Poison. The 29th will feature The Who and Guns N' Roses according to local press. The festival has yet to be announced. A venue the band were due to play in 1997 before having to cancel. Guns N' Roses and The Who play Rock In Rio on 23rd September.
Aerosmith are rumoured to be playing on 24th September in Sao Paulo, Brazil, 27th September in Curitiba, Brazil and 3rd October in Rosario, Argentina (200 miles North West of Buenos Aires) - none of which are confirmed but "may" be linked to the other news.
