Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. Coming to you this week all the way from Chicago in Illinois on what is the penultimate night of the Def Leppard 2017 US tour. Just two shows to go. Tonight and Indianapolis tomorrow night. Both sold out. What a great way to finish the tour. We have sixty minutes of fantastic music for you tonight. Starting off with a band from just down the road in Rockford, Illinois. This is brand new Cheap Trick."

Cheap Trick

"Hot on the heels of their last album Bang, Zoom, Crazy... Hello . Which I thought I would be introducing tracks from for the next couple of years saying from the latest Cheap Trick record. Not so because this week they have a brand new album out called We're All Alright!. Amazing album it is too, check it out. Cheap Trick the song we just heard Radio Lover."

Cockney Rebel

"This is also not bad. This is Cockney Rebel."

"And before that we heard Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel from their 1974 album, the title track in actual fact, Psychomodo."

T. Rex

"Ah yes indeed the King Of The Rumbling Spires. That is Marc Bolan, specifically actually T. Rex from their Best Of T. Rex compilation."

Heavy Metal Kids

"Right are you ready to take a trip all the way from heaven to hell and back again?. Good because this is the Heavy Metal Kids."

"And before that the Heavy Metal Kids from their 1976 album Kitch with From Heaven To Hell & Back Again."

Poison

"Well last week I played our touring partners Tesla. I also discussed the fact that our touring partners Poison's sound guy played Yes during soundcheck. So I thought it was about time I actually played some Poison themselves. And there from their 2007 covers album Poisoned. Their version of David Bowie's Suffragette City."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. This week coming to you all the way from Chicago in Illinois. We just heard Poison doing Bowie. After the break, we're gonna hear from the man himself."

David Bowie

"Before that David Bowie from the 1970 album Man Who Sold the World with the immortal Width Of A Circle."

Joe Cocker

"Born literally half a mile away from where I was born. And if I'm not mistaken, either on the same street or the street over from where Rick Savage was born. He is Sheffield's finest son. He is Joe Cocker. And there with his version of Leon Russell's Delta Lady, really giving it some."

Joe Elliott

"And sticking in the David Bowie camp for just a little while longer. Just a few days ago a lovely, lovely lady, at the grand old age of 94, passed away. Her name was Minnie Ronson. She was mother to Maggie, and Maggie's older brother Michael. Yes, Mick Ronson's mum has finally gone from Hull to Heaven to join her son. I'd like to dedicate this next song to Maggie and to the memory of Minnie. This is for you."

"And before that you heard yours truly with a song written by a gentleman called Laurie Heath. Recorded in Mick Ronson's second solo album Play Don't Worry. My version ultimately yet to be released. One day, one day. The song dedicated to Minnie Ronson This Is For You."

Woody Woodmansey's U-Boat

"The only surviving member of the Spiders From Mars there. Albeit from 1976. The band are U-Boat. They were put together by the drummer Woody Woodmansey and from their debut album we just heard the song Movie Star."

The Who

"Right then who's next?. Well yeah, The Who."

"And before that from 1971 we heard The Who from the album Who's Next with Bargain."

Dave Matthews Band

"I do believe that's the first time I've ever played that song on the show. And long overdue it is. It's a magnificent bit of work. That's the Dave Matthews Band from their album Everyday with The Space Between."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from Chicago in Illinois is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at the same time from who know's where?."

"Until then let's celebrate the fact that just a few days ago it was the 75 birthday of Mr. Paul McCartney or Sir Paul as he should be known. So let's go out with one of his classic from 1973 the album The Band On The Run. The is Jet. Until next week see ya!."
