Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Which this week is coming to you all the way from Portland in Oregon. And we just had a fantastic week's worth of shows. We played Vancouver in Canada. We played Spokane and Seattle in Washington and here we are parked up and getting ready for a show tonight in Portland, Oregon but do I have time for sixty minutes of great rock music for you guys?. Of course I do. Let's get the show started with the most wonderful Be Bop Deluxe."

Be Bop Deluxe

"Taken from their 1975 Roy Thomas Baker produced second album Futurama. That is Be Bop Deluxe coming from the more artier side if rock if you like with a song called Maid In Heaven."

Roxy Music

"And sticking with the artier side of rock, here's Roxy Music."

"And the song we heard before the Roxy Music from their album Country Life with The Thrill Of It All."

The Beatles

"Well if you were listening to last week's Ian Hunter birthday special you may remember that I actually did say I would probably play something this week by The Beatles. Specifically from Sgt. Pepper. The 50th anniversary version featuring the wonderful brand new remix by Giles Martin, son of the late great Sir George Martin. Well, I just did. I also just didn't because Penny Lane, the song we just heard, wasn't actually on Sgt. Pepper, but it is now. And that was the remix and trust me folks, if you haven't heard it yet you really need to hear this. If you're a Beatles fan, it is pretty spectacular."

The Psychedelic Furs

"Well if The Beatles were often regarded as psychedelic, this next band absolutely were. They use the word in their name."

"And before that we heard The Psychedelic Furs from their album Talk Talk Talk with Dumb Waiters."

The Pretty Reckless

"I'm sorry but I just cannot resist a foot stomping anthem-tastic tune like that one. By New York's The Pretty Reckless. The album Going To Hell. The song we just heard Heaven Knows."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. This week coming to you all the way from Portland in Oregon. It's time for a little break and when we come back, we're going slow dancing with Robert Plant."

Robert Plant

"And before that Robert Plant from his debut solo album back in 1982, the album Pictures At Eleven. The song we just heard Slow Dancer."

Babe Ruth

"I saw that band a couple of times at the Top Rank in Sheffield in the mid seventies and I will surmise this from seeing them live. One, they were great. And Two, their singer Jenny Hann must've had her handbag rifled at a few other gigs before because she always came on stage with it in her hand, out in under the keyboard before she started singing. The band Babe Ruth. From the album First Base the song we just heard Wells Fargo."

Montrose

"OK so from two quintessentially British artists to an American band who were, I think, unfairly often criticised for being too much like Led Zeppelin. From the Bay Area, San Francisco specifically, this is Montrose."

"And before that from their second album and the last one to feature the mighty Sammy Hagar on vocals. The album Paper Money, the band Montrose. The song we heard I Got The Fire."

Jethro Tull

"I've heard it mentioned in some quarters that there are no flutes in rock and roll. Well I beg to differ, because I think that that crowd do it as well as anybody ever could. That crowd are of course Jethro Tull from their classic album Aqualung. That is Mother Goose."

Pink Floyd

"OK back to Blighty and a band who were once led by the wonderfully eccentric Syd Barrett. This is Pink Floyd."

"And before that from the compilation album Creation. Originally a single back in 1967 I think it was. Pink Floyd featuring the very crazy talented Mr. Syd Barrett with a song called See Emily Play."

Lone Star

"Featuring on guitar one Mr. Paul Chapman who would go on to replace Michael Schenker, for a little while at least, in UFO and the wonderful vocals of Mr. John Sloman. That is Lone Star from their second album Firing On All Six with a song called Ballad Of Crafty Jack."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from Portland in Oregon is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you god willing next week at the same time all the way from Viva Las Vegas."

"So until then gonna leave you with this little bit of indiscretion from Sparks. From the album Indiscreet this is In The Future. Until next week see ya!."
