Show Intro

"Evening all welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. I am home after a whirlwind trip to London. 48 hours of complete mayhem which was fantastic really. Breathless it left me and pretty much voiceless too. Met some great people. had some wonderful times and the album Hysteria 30 went into the UK charts at Number Five this week. That in itself is very exciting. If not just a little weird Won't bore you to death with all that kind of stuff because we've got sixty minutes of great music tonight. Starting off with this beauty by The Clash."

The Clash

"Originally recorded by a band called The Bobby Fuller Four and if you go on the web and have a good look around you can actually find the demo of the original version from way back in the early 60s and it is superb. Most people didn't make demos that well back in those days but that from the debut album by The Clash in 1976 is I Fought The Law."

David Bowie

"I just watched a documentary on David Bowie called The Last Five Years. It's been kind of stuck on my hard drive for the last couple of months. Never got the chance to see it. Finally watched it this week. It just reminded me how brilliant this song is."

"Before that we heard David Bowie from the album Lodger with the very wonderful Boys Keep Swinging."

Cockney Rebel

"Released as a stand alone single back in 1974. That is Cockney Rebel featuring the very talented Steve Harley at the helm with a song called Judy Teen. These days you can find it on the re-release of their debut album Human Menageries as well as many Best Of collections no doubt."

Roxy Music

"OK let's keep the art rock going for a little while shall we. This does indeed have a very strange intro, but give it a second. It gets pretty good. This is Roxy Music."

"And before that Roxy Music from their debut album with an absolute fan fave Ladytron."

Sparks

"Thank God It's Not Christmas indeed. Not in August. That is Sparks from their third album. First big album. First one on Island Records. The album is Kimono My House. The song Thank God It's Not Christmas."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. It's time for a little break and when we come back, stories picture style by Rod Stewart and we're gonna say goodbye to an absolute genius musician."

Rod Stewart

"And before that we heard from Rod Stewart, who at the time was the first artist ever to top both singles and album charts in the same week back in 1971. We heard the title track from the album Every Picture Tells A Story."

Glen Campbell

"It's not an obvious choice for Planet Rock, I understand that but we do have to pay our respects to one of the greatest musicians from the pop rock and country side of things. The late great Glen Campbell who passed away earlier this week. That is the title track of his 61st album. The album is Ghost On The Canvas and just listen to this list, and this is just a handful of people that contributed to that record. the likes of Paul Westerberg, Chris Isaak, Jason Faulkner, Jakob Dylan, the great Dick Dale, Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick, Keith Urban, Brian Setzer and Billy Corgan all put their heart and soul into helping him make that record just a few years ago. Rest in peace Glen Campbell."

Foo Fighters

"OK here's something just a little bit different. A couple of covers starting off with the Foo Fighters."

"And before that the Foo Fighters from Radio 1 Established 1967. We heard their version of the classic Wings tune Band On The Run."

Graham Parker

"I'm a huge fan of early Motown music. So it's nice to be able to play a Motown song on Planet Rock albeit a cover. And albeit slightly more rocky. Originally recorded by a gentleman called R. Dean Taylor. The very first white artist ever signed to Tamla Motown. That version though is by Graham Parker from his album The Mona Lisa's Sister. The song There's A Ghost In My House."

Garbage

"Right then this next song is complete and utter Garbage."

" And before that Garbage from the eponymously titled album with Supervixen."

Jethro Tull

"I do like a little bit of Jethro Tull now and again. In fact actually I like a lot of Jethro Tull quite often. There from the collection Living In The Past Jethro Tull with Witches Promise."

Show Outro

"And that my friends for this week is about it. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at the same time."

"Until then I'm gonna leave you with this. It's not brand new Cheap Trick , but it's only about 15 months old. From the album Bang, Zoom, Crazy... Hello this is the most wonderful The Sun Never Sets. Until next week see ya!."
