Show Intro

"Aye Aye. Buenos Dias. Guten Tag. Actually I probably need to brush up on my Portuguese seeing as that Def Leppard are off to Rock In Rio in about three weeks time. So I'll keep it simple. Good evening. How are ya doin'?. This is the Joe Elliott show on the wonderful Planet Rock and what a show we have for you tonight. Sixty minutes of fantastic music. I'm feeling all rocked up tonight 'cause I went to a gig a couple of nights ago. Tell you all about it later on. Gonna start the show off with some fantastic lyrical insight by one Mr. Little Richard."

Little Richard

"Well it doesn't get much better than that does it?. Directly from his heart. The album is actually directly from my heart. It is Little Richard with the immortal Tutti Frutti."

The Rolling Stones

"Now here's a band that were absolutely inspired by the likes of Little Richard and Chuck Berry etc. This is Britain's own Rolling Stones."

"And before that from the collection Big Hits, High Tides and Green Grass we heard The Rolling Stones with The Last Time."

The Ramones

"And from the streets of New York they really did take the world by storm in their own way. The Ramones. One of the first 12 inch, if not the first 12 inch single, I ever bought. The song Sheena Is A Punk Rocker."

The Psychedelic Furs

"I mentioned at the top of the show that I was feeling a bit more rocked up this week than normal because I took a step aside from domestic bliss and went to see a gig Thursday night. A fantastic little venue in Dublin called The Academy. To date it's the last show that the Down 'n' Outz ever played in December 2014 but I have seen some amazing gigs there. The likes of Black Star Riders and Duff McKagan's Loaded. Thursday night I saw this crowd. They were fantastic. Absolutely brilliant gig. They are The Psychedelic Furs."

"And before that The Psychedelic Furs from the album Forever Now. They didn't actually play this song on Thursday night. So I did have a word with Richard and he apologised by giving me a bottle of whiskey. I love the guy. Psychedelic Furs, President Gas."

Overend Watts

"He was always a bit of a nutter but we loved him nonetheless. I think there he is channelling his inner Brian Eno. That from an album called He's Real Gone. A great sense of humour from a guy that set the record up before he passed away, is Overend Watts. Ex-bass player for British Lions, Mott and of course Mott The Hoople She's Real Gone. The album has just come ou. For all you Mott The Hoople fans the important thing about this record is that the demo. The original demo for Born Late '58 is tagged on to the end of it. But that is one of the most ridiculous songs I think I've probably ever played on the show. It's a song called She's Real gone and it is Overend Watts."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. And keeping it topical they may well be able to silence the bells of Big Ben, but they'll never be able to silence the bells of Berlin. Lone Star after the break."

Lone Star

"And before that featuring a singer who once actually sang in Uriah Heep. The guys name is John Sloman. We heard the band Lone Star from the album Firing On All Six with Bells Of Berlin."

Uriah Heep

"They were never what you'd call press darlings, but the kids loved them and I still do. They are Uriah Heep and from the album Demons And Wizards we just heard the song Traveller In Time."

McGuinness Flint

"OK get out your mandolins. It doesn't get more British than these next couple of songs. Starting off McGuinness Flint."

"And before that from about the same time period we heard McGuinness Flint. Who would become Gallagher And Lyle eventually with the song When I'm Dead And Gone. Once covered by Def Leppard during the YEAH! sessions back in 2006."

Lindisfarne

"Very haunting indeed but absolutely beautiful. That is Lindisfarne from the album Nicely Out Of Tune with their first ever hit Lady Eleanor back in 1970 I think it was. Maybe '71."

Joe Walsh

"Right then let's rock it up again shall we. This is Joe Walsh."

"Before that we heard Joe Walsh. Now an Eagle but he used to fly solo and from his collection Look What I Did we heard the song Funk #49."

Dirty Tricks

"They never really made it big but they were a great live act. I saw them a couple of times back in the mid to late 70s in Sheffield. They are Dirty Tricks and from their third album that is the title track Night Man. Channelling their inner Free maybe a little bit there. I got to know the singer Kenny Shipman pretty well when I moved to London in 1980. We used to hang out at the bar in The Marquee on Wardour Street and he introduced me to these throat lozenges called Vocalzone's. They are the singer's friend and for that I thank him from the bottom of my heart."

Show Outro

"And that my friends for this week is about it. Been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at the same time."

"And seeing as how we just heard the Dirty Tricks possibly channelling their inner Free. Let's end the show with the real McCoy shall we. From the album Free At Last this is Catch A Train. Until next week see ya!."
