Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome to the Joe Elliott show all the way from Sioux Falls in South Dakota on what is Record Store Day. I bet many of you have just come home drenched and cold and wind-blown. With whatever you've got under your arm. I really hope you got what you were looking for. We have sixty minutes of great music tonight. Starting off with this contribution to Record Store Day by a once very obscure band from Sheffield."

Def Leppard

"If you're a Def Leppard fan and you were fortunate enough to get a copy of said Def Leppard EP which came out in 12 inch form for this particular Record Store Day 2017, don't be confused by the artwork because we tried to keep the artwork so exact to the original that it says 33 1/3 which the original seven inch was. However the 12 inch re-release for this year is actually a 45. So if it sounds a bit weird, you've got it on the wrong speed."

Alice Cooper

"All this talk of Record Store Day and the renaissance of vinyl and it's all wacky and wonderful different colour, shapes and sizes. Got me thinking about other formats. Does anybody remember this when it came out on Flexi-Disc?."

"And before that originally free as a Flexi-Disc in the NME advertising an album it wasn't even on, which is amazing really when you think about it. It is these days on the remastered version of Billion Dollar Babies. The band of course Alice Cooper. The song Slick Black Limousine."

Roxy Music

"From their fantastic 1974 album Country Life. That is Roxy Music with All I Want Is You."

Brian Protheroe

"OK it's time to take a chill pill, put five pence in the slot. We are about to play pinball Brian Protheroe."

"And before that we heard Brian Protheroe. Not much of a singer really. He was an actor that did a couple of records, But that was one of those songs that just really cut through back in the 70s. The song Pinball."

Crosby Stills Nash Young

"OK you ready for this?. That song has the very snappy title of Country Girl: Whiskey Boot Hill/Down, Down, Down/Country Girl (I Think You're Pretty). That's what you could do if you were Crosby Stills Nash and Young on their Deja Vu album."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show all the way from South Dakota on this Record Store Day on the wonderful Planet Rock. We're gonna take a little break and when we come back, we're gonna get all fruity with Creedence Clearwater Revival."

Creedence Clearwater Revival

"All 11 minutes and 9 seconds of Creedence Clearwater Revival's version of the old Marvin Gaye classic I Heard It Through The Grapevine. It featured on their Cosmos Factory album."

The Clash

"11 minutes and 9 seconds, let's move on to a band that do two, three minute songs. This is The Clash."

"And before that from their debut album in 1976, we heard The Clash with Complete Control."

David Bowie

"Originally pencilled in to be a concept album based on the novel by George Orwell, 1984. But he couldn't get the rights to it from his widow. Sadly George had long since disappeared to the great library in the sky. That is David Bowie from his 1974 album Diamond Dogs with the song Big Brother which was followed by the fantastically titled the Chant Of The Ever Circling Skeletal Family."

Steely Dan

"Well Steely Dan told us many years ago that you can't buy a thrill. But today is Record Store Day, what do they know?."

"And before that we heard Steely Dan from the album Can't Buy A Thrill with Reelin' In The Years."

Sparks

"From a time where bands did B Sides that were so good you wondered why they weren't on the albums. That is Sparks with a song called Lost And Found. Which was the B Side of Amateur Hour which was the second single off their 1974 album Kimono My House."

Show Outro

"And that my friends on this Record Store Day all the way from South Dakota. Sioux Falls specifically, is about it for this week. Been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you god willing next week from Fort Myers in Florida. And as I said at the top of the show, I hope you got everything you went out for. If you were stood in the wind and the rain, you certainly deserved whichever version of whatever album or whatever single you've got no matter what colour, shape or size."

"Until next week I'm gonna leave you with this classic bit of work from the Rolling Stones. From their album Bagger's Banquet this is indeed Street Fighting Man. Until next week see ya!."
