The Joe Elliott Show #318 - Transcript

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome to the Joe Elliott show once again here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week from the Mile High City that is Denver, Colorado. We have sixty minutes of great music for you tonight. Starting out with this beauty. Something that we'll be doing about sixty minutes after we get off stage."

Eddie And The Hotrods

"And what a breathless performance that is by one Mr. Barry Masters. That from the Singles Collection is Eddie And The Hotrods with the classic Get Out Of Denver. Which we'll be doing about one hour after we get off stage. Heading where?. Straight to Albuquerque. Also about a mile above sea level. Oh well, no rest for the wicked. Here's Motorhead."

Motorhead

"And before that we heard Motorhead from the Ace Of Spades album with Love You Like A Reptile."

Judas Priest

"Well there's a couple of songs that if you sang them about a mile above sea level, you would probably land flat on your back seeing sparkles. That is Judas Priest from their live album Unleashed In the East with Hell Bent For Leather."

Queen

"Alright just one more song on the breathless theme. Even though this one is a lot more subdued. This is Queen."

"And before that we heard Queen from A Day At The Races with a song, a beautiful song You Take My Breath Away."

Uriah Heep

"I saw them live in the 70s and had the great pleasure of touring with them in the 80s when they opened for Leppard on the Pyromania tour in 1983. That is Uriah Heep from the album Magician's Birthday with Sweet Lorraine."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. Coming to you this week all the way from Denver, Colorado. It's time for a little break and when we come back well even in their quietest moments a band like Supertramp and Gensis can hold your attention. See ya in a bit."

Supertramp

"Supertramp there with the title track of their 1977 album Even In The Quietest Moments."

Genesis

"And before that Genesis from the album Selling England By The Pound we heard the Firth Of Fifth."

T. Rex

"OK so from the Kings of Prog Rock to the Kings of Glam Rock. This is T. Rex."

"And before that from the album Slider which came out in 1972 and a massive hit single for T. Rex, we heard Metal Guru."

Be Bop Deluxe

"Wakefield's finest there Mr. Bill Nelson and Be Bop Deluxe from the album Modern Music with the very Bowie influenced Forbidden Lovers."

The Kinks

"Now here's a couple of gorgeous examples of garage rock from either side of the Atlantic. Starting off in the UK with The Kinks."

"And before that one of their many, many hit singles from the Sixties, we heard The Kinks with Till the End Of The Day."

The Monkees

"Believe it or not a song once covered by the Sex Pistols. That is The Monkees from their Definitive Collection with (I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone."

Show Outro

"And we have come to the end of this particular show folks. It's been a pleasure all the way from Denver, Colorado. At least I've got my breath back now. I shall be back with you next week god willing at the same time from Sacramento in California."

"So until then let's go with the Queens of noise from California. The Runaways and Cherry Bomb. Until next week see ya!."
