The Joe Elliott Show #324 - Transcript

Show Intro

"Evening one and all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. We have tonight for you what I consider sixty minutes of some great music starting off with brand new Quireboys."

The Quireboys

"From their latest album Twisted Love that is The Quireboys with Torn And Frayed."

Doctors Of Madness

"Now if you were lucky enough last week to listen to the brand new show on Planet Rock called The Long Player. You will have heard 15 minutes and 57 seconds of The Doctors Of Madness. Well if that wasn't enough for you. Here's a little bit more."

"And the song we heard before that the Doctors Of Madness from their third album. In fact the title track Sons Of Survival."

Cockney Rebel

"From the extremely talented mind of one Mr. Steve Harley. That is Cockney Rebel from the album Psychomodo with a song called Singular Band. I played that not just because it's a great song. Also because the boss, keeping him happy. The guys that runs Planet Rock is a huge fan of Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel."

Ian Hunter

"And talking of talented minds. This guys winning streak late in his career, just keep going and getting stronger and stronger. This is brand new Ian Hunter."

"And before that absolutely brand new Ian Hunter from his latest album Fingers Crossed. With a fantastic guitar solo aswell by the way. Very Ronson-esque. The song Morpheus."

Roxy Music

"From their 1974 Country Life album. One of their many hit singles. That is Roxy Music with All I Want Is You."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock and it's time for a little break. And when we come back, a song that would fit nicely in the new show Long Player. Go Supertramp."

Supertramp

"And before that Supertramp from the album Even In the Quietest Moments. Coming in at a brilliant 10 minutes and 52 seconds, we heard Fools Overture."

The Who

"Pulled from one of the best albums that they ever made. The album is Who's Next. The song Love Ain't For Keeping. The band of course The Who."

The New Seekers

"Now having just heard The Who, and me being the kind of guy that's never been afraid to put a few noses out of joint, at least musically. I am gonna play this because it was a hit in the 70s. It's a great medley of two classic Who songs. And who'd have thought that you would ever have heard on Planet Rock The New Seekers."

"And before that, if you're close to my age. Yes, you may remember a band called The New Seekers. They were actually a kind of a continuation of the original Seekers band from the 60s. With their great medley of Pinball Wizard/See Me Feel Me."

Sweet

"Now there's a band that knew how to mix pop and rock music together and in their mid 70s pomp they did it magnificently. They are of course Sweet. there we just heard Fox On the Run."

Jethro Tull

"Now why am I playing these next two songs back to back?. Because I have a very warped sense of humour. All will be revealed in a few minutes."

"And before that Jethro Tull from the album Broadside And The Beast with the song Seal Driver. Get it Sea Diver, Seal driver. Well, it was funny at the time I put the show together."

Down 'n' Outz

"So what you got there folks, which is absolutely brand spanking new Down 'n' Outz. Yet to be released in the UK from the forthcoming The Further Live Adventures Of The Down 'n' Outz, we just heard the song Sea Diver."

Show Outro

"And talking of time. I am bang out of it. I shall be back with you next week god willing at the same time."

"Until then gonna leave you with this classic track from the album London Calling by The Clash. This is Train In Vain. Until next week see ya!."
