Def Leppard's Animal Video On BBC's Sounds Of The 80s Tonight

Def Leppard's classic Animal video from 1987 will be featured on BBC show Sounds Of The 80s on UK TV tonight.

The weekly radio show is broadcast on BBC Radio 2 between 10pm to 12am.

The accompanying one hour TV show version is on from 10:30pm via the BBC Red Button channel.

Is is repeated on a loop throughout the night and all through Sunday.

A rare chance to see an actual Def Leppard video getting UK TV airplay (although it probably won't be the entire video).

The main guest on the show is singer Marc Almond from Soft Cell with videos by Heaven 17, Diana Ross and Jennifer Rush also featured.

The single was originally released on 20th July 1987 and was the lead single from the 'Hysteria' album.

It would become their first Top 10 hit single anywhere in the world when it reached Number 6 in August 1987.

Sounds Of The 80s - Show Description

BBC Radio 2's Sara Cox takes us down the 80s videos time tunnel and talks to singer Marc Almond.

Marc takes us back to the creation of his band Soft Cell with friend David Ball and the journey taking their music from Leeds to London's Soho and on to New York, including Studio 54. He talks candidly about the effect of his 1981 Top of the Pops debut and the later traumatic time of his motorbike crash.

Sara plays Soft Cell's debut on Top of the Pops, and Marc chooses one of his favourite songs from the 80s: Christine by Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Plus Heaven 17's Temptation, Def Leppard's Animal, Diana Ross's Chain Reaction and more, and a megamix of the top 5 from this week in 1985, including the number one from Jennifer Rush with The Power of Love.
