The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome to a very celebratory Joe Elliott's show tonight on Planet Rock. For it is indeed my 300th show for the station. I was invited back in 2010 to do six shows to help launch the brand new Down 'n' Outz. And for some reason I'm still here. But I'm glad I am and I'm glad you can join me tonight from Boston. No, not Boston, Lincolnshire. Which is only a stones throw from my mother's house as it happens. But Boston, Massachusetts where we are enjoying a day off on the Def Leppard tour before we play an Indian reservation tomorrow night in a place called Mohegan Sun. One of the best gigs on the rock and roll tour circuit."

"We have sixty minutes of great music for you tonight. And as I am in Boston. Thought we'd theme it out. Here are indeed the bad boys of Boston themselves. This is Aerosmith."

Aerosmith

"I've heard a dirty little rumour that their thinking of knocking it on the head next year. Which I truly hope is completely untrue because there's always a bit of room for a band like Aerosmith in my life. And there we just heard them, from their album Rocks, with Back In The Saddle."

Def Leppard - Man Enough

"Well I am celebrating my 300th show. So why not. And it's just snuck into the Top 20 of the US rock charts this week. It's the third single to be released from the current Def Leppard album. It's six months old now so it's hardly what you'd call new. But that's a song called Man Enough."

Foo Fighters

"Have they ever put a foot wrong?. Not to my ears they haven't. All the way from the 90s. Through the Millennium to the Noughties and onwards. They're just wonderful. It's the Foo Fighters there from an album called Wasting Light with a song called These Days."

Mott The Hoople

"Now as this is my 300th show did you really think I wasn't gonna play Mott The Hoople?. Thought not."

David Bowie/Mott The Hoople

"Two fantastic examples of songs that influenced me as a child to wanna be in this business in the first place. David Bowie from his remarkable album Aladdin Sane back in 1973 with the opening track Watch That Man. And before that Mott The Hoople from their swansong really. The album was called The Hoople from 1974. The song Pearl 'N' Roy, brackets, England, close brackets."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from Boston, Massachusetts on my 300th show is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure. It's been a real pleasure to do this for the last six years actually and I hope I can do it for another six years. It's been such a pleasure and it's really a highlight of my week putting the show together where we can share some fantastic stories and memories and indeed some wonderful music with so many people."

"So until next week from home because we're taking a month off, I'm gonna leave you with what got it all started for me with Planet Rock all those years ago. 2010 I was releasing my first solo project. My side band the Down 'n' Outz. The first album My ReGeneration. Here's a track from it. This one written by Vanda/Young. As you'll know Uncles of AC/DC. This is a song called Good Times. So until next week see ya!."
