Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott has been interviewed by Pennsylvania radio and mentioned the Down 'n' Outz DVD.

Joe talked about the rescheduled shows, how Def Leppard have stayed together, what he watches of Netflix, the Down 'n' Outz band history, the live album/DVD, the new self-titled Def Leppard studio album, the Hysteria album, influences, the setlist and touring with REO Speedwagon/Tesla.

Joe now says the Down 'n' Outz DVD, which was filmed in December 2014, will actually be a 2CD/DVD set. He last mentioned this project on the 2nd January 2016 edition of his radio show.

This is one of the first interviews Joe has given since the show postponements on 1st February. And as you will hear - he can still talk. Listen to the DJ try to get a word in about 19 minutes in when they are talking about the Hysteria album.

Curiously the DJ does not ask Joe about his voice or recovery since the postponed shows.

Glen And Rob/The River 97.3 - Joe Elliott Interview Quotes

Rescheduled Shows/2016 Tour

"Yeah the tour was never meant to be 55 but we like to honour as many commitments as we can. We had to blow out about 11 gigs in January/February. So we've made up as many as we physically could. Tragically there's two or three of them have had to go away because the building availability doesn't fit the whole schedule of the tour. But at least 8 or 9 of them we're managing to do the make up on. Which is great you know but it turns into a 55 show extravaganza which is something we're really looking forward to of course."

Live Down 'n' Outz 2CD/DVD

"So far we've done two studio records. There's one live DVD out and there's a second one that was recorded in my home town of Sheffield about 15 months ago - be coming out in the next couple of months. A double live album and DVD."

"So it's an ongoing side project that will just rear its head every now and again. When basically I have a little bit of time off between Leppard projects because it is a lot of fun and it's nice to do something different. You bring something to the table for both parties when you've gone off and done something that's like you know. Off the hamster wheel if you like because when you're in a band like Leppard, as Pete Townshend or Roger Daltrey will tell you, it's just like album tour, album tour for a certain amount of time and then it's just touring forever."

"And it's nice to just do it with different people. Different songs and then you can come back to the mother ship and it's like. This is great you know. They're both good fun."

New Songs In The Setlist In 2016?

"I'll have to kill you if I told ya."

Touring With REO Speedwagon/Tesla

"Yeah Tesla are back out with us as well opening the show up. We did some shows with REO Speedwagon about eight years ago I think it was. With Foreigner as well on that particular tour and they were such a joy to tour with. We like bands that are no drama. We're not drama ourselves. We like to be able to hang out in the corridors backstage and swapping stories about the old days."

"Normally with us its bands from the 70s so they're the ones with the stories and we're the ones listening. And Tesla as well. They're a fantastic band. We toured with Tesla on the Hysteria tour. You know we've got a history with those guys and we get on really well with all the members of that band. And all the guys in REO as well and when we had Styx with us, it was the same thing. They're just a pleasure to work with."

"So we're all about value for money. We like the idea that when the fan walks into the building. From song one by Tesla till the last song that we play. They kind of know most of what they're gonna hear. So it's an enjoyable experience. We're not trying to educate people. We're trying to entertain them. So it's not like here's my new solo album stuck in the middle of the Def Leppard set. So that everybody has to go the bar or slash their wrists or something. We know exactly what the value of money needs to be these days and it would be lovely to be able to out a brand new band on that nobody's every heard. But it doesn't work in this day and age. Not on a tour like this in amphitheatres. It just doesn't work."

"You know we've tried it before and it doesn't work. And you out people that you know on the tour with you that the audiences are aware of. It makes it an event. And the one thing that we've always tried to say about a Leppard show is like we want it always to be an event. Even if it's an event in the wrong way. They way that the boat was when I lost my voice. It still became an event. You know not just some droll, ordinary Thursday night overcast day another Leppard gig. We want to make it something special. every time we step on stage. So that includes everybody that tours with us."
