The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome. It's once again the Joe Elliott show right here on the fantastic Planet Rock. Coming to you this week all the way from Dublin, Ireland because yes, I am back home on what I consider to be a well deserved three week break. We've got some great music tonight including some brand new and brilliant Ian Hunter. But for right now I maybe be back home but Gary Moore. He's back on the streets."

Gary Moore

"The title track from Gary Moore's first proper solo album in 1978 featuring the likes of Brian Downey and Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy. In fact if you remember the performance of that he did on The Old Grey Whistle Test. He even had Scott Gorham on rhythm so essentially it was Thin Lizzy. Gary Moore Back On The Streets."

AC/DC/KISS

"Now keeping the rock high voltage. This is AC/DC."

"From what I consider to be their best ever studio album by a country mile. That is KISS from the 1976 classic album Destroyer with Flamin' Youth."

"And before that AC/DC from the album High Voltage with, what else, Rock 'n' Roll Singer."

Frankie Miller/Bad Company

"Now talking of rock and roll singers. Here's two of the best singers to ever come out of the UK. Starting off with Frankie Miller."

"It's an album that's often overlooked purely because of the strength of their first two records. But trust me if you've never heard their third album it's really worth checking out. It is Run With The Pack. That is the title track from said album by Bad Company featuring the obviously fantastic vocals of Mr. Paul Rodgers.."

"And before that featuring the equally fantastic vocals of Mr. Frankie Miller. We heard the man himself from the album Full House with Be Good To Yourself."

Brian May

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock. It is time for a little break and when we come back we are gonna celebrate the birthday of one of the greatest guitarists to ever play a home made guitar. Or any guitar come to think of it. See ya in a bit."

The Pretenders

"It's such a shame that a couple of members of that band passed away so tragically young and only a couple of months apart. Pete Farndon and James Honeyman-Scott. Members of the then brilliant Pretenders from their second album that is Message Of Love."

Queen/Brian May

"And before that celebrating the, dare I say it, 69th birthday of one Mr. Brian May. Happy birthday Brian from all of us. We heard from Queen II firstly Procession followed by Father to Son."

Ian Hunter

"Now the only band that Queen ever supported in their entire career was Mott The Hoople way back in 1974. The year that Hoople split up. One year later their lead singer would release his first solo album. And other than a couple of reunion tours, in the last five or six years, he has been solo for the last 42 years."

"He has a brand new album coming out in September and it features a homage to the guy who relit the fire under Mott The Hoople in 1972. The guy was David Bowie. This is Ian Hunter."

Lou Reed

"Another gentleman whose career was kick started by David Bowie after he left the Velvet Underground. From his second solo album. That is Lou Reed. The album is called Transformer. The song we just heard Satellite Of Love."

Ian Hunter

"And before that from the brand new Ian Hunter album. Not even out until September. It is called Fingers Crossed. His tribute to David Bowie. A song called Dandy."

New York Dolls

"And if Lou Reed was the King of New York. Surely these guys were the Kings. Plural. This is the New York Dolls."

Cheap Trick

"Wow we really are shooting towards the end of this show in a Glam-tastic way aren't we?. That, from their brand new album Bang, Zoom, Crazy, Hello, is Cheap Trick with a very glammy Blood Red Lips."

New York Dolls

"And before that the New York Dolls from their debut album back in 1973 with a track called Trash."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week god willing at the same time."

"But till then let's move away from the glam and head back to some good old fashioned 1974 hard rock. From the Bay Area of San Francisco. Their second album Paper Money. This is Montrose and I Got The Fire. Until next week see ya!."
