Def Leppard played a Slang tour show in Johannesburg, South Africa on 5th December 1996 and a tour diary/video footage is available.
The show took place at the Johannesburg Stadium.
The first time the band had played in this city or country where they were supported by local band Just Jinjer.
The European leg of the Slang tour had ended in with a club show in Exeter, England on 28th November.
The show was filmed by local TV for broadcast.
13 songs were included from the show which was played in front of 37,500 ecstatic and very loud fans. The first of three stadium shows played on the mini tour of the country.
Vivian wrote about the show for Kerrang! magazine as part of a series of Tour Diaries from the three South African shows.

"There are certain countries we've visited on this tour where they treat us like big, fat pop stars. South Africa. I'm glad to say, is one of them - from the trouble-free excursion through immigration and Customs (yes, of course I'll sign your CD...), to the obligatory press conference, security guards, etc, etc."
