The Joe Elliott Show #329 - Transcript

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome. It is the Joe Elliott show once again here on the wonderful Planet Rock. And it is Planet Rockstock weekend. So if you're at home with a nice cup of cocoa or a nice glass of Chardonnay and you're missing out on the likes of Dead Daisies and Girlschool, British Lion, Martin Turner from Wishbone Ash, Black Stone Cherry to name but a few. Just think, they're missing out on this."

Van Halen

"From the album 1984. No guesses for which year that was released. The band Van Halen. The song we just heard there, Panama."

Ricky Warwick

"Now here's a guy who's playing Trecco Bay tomorrow night. So if you're going you might catch him doing this one. On The Road To Damascus Street this is Ricky Warwick."

"And before that Ricky Warwick from his very imaginatively titled album When Patsy Cline Was Crazy And Guy Mitchell Sang The Blues. We heard the song The Road To Damascus Street."

Queen

"It's still my favourite Queen 'cause it's kind of where I came in. Around about 1974. The album is Sheer Heart Attack. The song Stone Cold Crazy, once covered by Metallica."

Kate Bush

"Well after months of waiting it's finally arrived. Dropped through the letterbox this week. And what a fantastic bit of work. Well worth the wait. It is Before The Dawn. It's the brand new triple CD by Kate Bush recorded live at the, I shall always call it this, Hammersmith Odeon way back in 2014. She did 22 shows. I was very fortunate to be there for the very last night. Here's a little sample for ya."

"And before that Kate Bush from her brand new triple CD Before The Dawn. And it really is spectacular. As I said I was there at the Hammersmith Odeon in 2014. It was one hell of a show. Absolutely amazing. I hope and I'm praying and I'm also told on the quiet there will be a DVD in the future. But for now that's the live version of The Hounds Of Love."

Be-Bop Deluxe

"Now as we all know this is not a request show. But I did get an email from a guy a couple of months back saying please, please. I know you play a lot of Be-Bop. Will you please play that particular song. And that particular song was Cry Into The Sky. Very Hendrix influenced if you listen to it carefully. The band Be-Bop Deluxe. The album Sunburst Finish from 1976."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on this Planet Rockstock weekend. It's time for a little break and when we come back. Well, royalty is on its way. Wishbone Ash."

Wishbone Ash

"And before that Wishbone Ash from there arguably most successful record Argus. With the song The King Will Come."

UFO

"I often tend to listen to the live version of that because it's such a great album. Strangers In The Night. The UFO live album from 1978 but that is the studio version from the album Force It which came out in 1975. The song Out In The Streets. That's the 2007 remastered version."

Jeff Lynne/E.L.O.

"Re-records of famous songs are arguably arguable. There are people all over the world right now sitting in a pub somewhere going you should never do this. And other people saying it's not such a big deal. Def Leppard have done it two or three times and we're quite happy with the results of our re-records. I'm very happy with the results of this one. This is Jeff Lynne And E.L.O.."

"And before that Jeff Lynne. Pretty much solo really except for his mate Richard Tandy who plays the odd thing here and there And E.L.O.. the re-record Greatest Hits Mr Blue Sky. E.L.O. . The song Ma-Ma-Ma Belle."

Train

"Now that's a band that didn't make much of a splash in the UK until a couple of years ago when they had one Top Ten hit from an album that came out in 2001. That is a magnificent bit of work called Something More. The band Train. The album Drops Of Jupiter."

Alice Cooper

"Now he may have been around forever but he's still got a long way to go. This is Alice Cooper."

"And before that from the 1971 classic album Love It To Death we heard Alice Cooper with Long Way To Go."

Cheap Trick

"They never let me down. They're just brilliant. They are Cheap Trick from their brand new album Bang, Zoom, Crazy, Hello!. That's a song called The Sun Never Sets."

Show Outro

"And that my friends on this Planet Rockstock weekend is about it for this week. Been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week god willing at the same time."

"So while everybody in Trecco Bay is getting up to no good. We shall stay in our own personal Babylon. And there's your clue from 1974. The album Too Much Too Soon. This is The New York Dolls. Until next week see ya!."
