A recap of all things Def Leppard in the year 2016 continuing with the month of February.

Another eventful year for the band is about to end and these updates look back at the major events that took place this year.

In early February the difficulties of the 'Hysteria On The High Seas' cruise continued to cause problems as the band had to postpone all of the January/February tour dates. Better news was to follow at the end of the month though.

Joe continued to reflect on David Bowie's death and Vivian's band Last In Line released their debut album 'Heavy Crown'.

1st February 2016 - Def Leppard Postpone All 10 February Tour Dates Due To Joe's Illness - Read More

All tour dates were postponed due to Joe's vocal/health issues. 7 of the shows were rescheduled and played in May but 3 shows had to be cancelled (San Antonio/Atlantic City/Brooklyn).

Press Release quote - "DEF LEPPARD has postponed the remaining dates on their Winter 2016 tour due to illness. All shows from Feb. 2 (San Antonio, TX) through Feb. 17 (Allentown, PA) will be rescheduled including the previously postponed dates in Greensboro, NC (Jan. 27) and Orlando, FL (Jan. 30)."

Joe talks more about David Bowie's death in various interviews.

Joe Elliott quote - "Argh it's really devastating. You know obviously his family comes first but his fans obviously come second. And it's almost like he played his death out as a piece of because you listen to the lyrics on Blackstar with hindsight and it is a goodbye letter almost."

3rd February 2016 - Rick Allen Says Joe Elliott Pulled Something In His Throat - Read More

Rick talked about Joe's vocal issues during an interview.

Rick Allen quotes - "I think it's something he pulled in his throat during the three week break. And you know he wasn't doing great on the cruise. And then we - and then when we did that - we actually postponed Greensboro, and then we did the Miami show. And then the next day he went off to see a doctor and basically the doctor said that you need to rest it for a month and you know if you don't you could do permanent damage."

"The response from fans and what have you has been just amazing. Just the support you know. I think we underestimate how much the fans love the band and love the individual members in it."

Joe Elliott 22nd January quote - "Anyway listen I don't like to make excuses but about two days ago [20th January] I woke up with no voice. Decided half of you lot have already left so you're on your way here. You don't cancel. You just don't. You take a risk. Hope it comes back. Still hoping. But if you lot sing instead of me it'll actually sound pretty good."

3rd February 2016 - Vivian Campbell Explains Joe Elliott's Vocal Cord Issues - Read More

Vivian gives a more detailed explanation of Joe's issues and what led to the tour postponement.

Vivian Campbell quotes - "So this specialist that he saw on Saturday told Joe that if he didn't stop singing immediately for a couple of months. He would do irreparable damage in the long term. But he's also equally confident that if Joe just stops singing for at least two months that it will naturally heal."

"So he doesn't have to do any surgery. He doesn't have to take any drugs. He just needs to rest. So we had to postpone those shows and we're trying to reschedule them for May."

Joe and Phil appear on US TV show Pawn Stars which was taped in Las Vegas, NV. Phil played and verified the authenticity of one of his hand painted Jackson PC1 guitars. Shown once again on UK TV earlier today.

Joe gave another update on his condition during an episode of his weekly Planet Rock radio show.

19th February 2016 - Vivian Campbell/Last In Line Heavy Crown Album Released Today - Read More

Vivian's Last In Line band released the 'Heavy Crown' album which had been recorded and finished in 2014. It was released just a few weeks after bassist Jimmy Bain's death.

22nd February 2016 - Rescheduled Def Leppard Tour Dates For May Now Confirmed - Read More

The 7 remaining dates from February and 2 postponed in January were rescheduled for May with the other 3 later confirmed as being cancelled.


Def Leppard 2016.

29th February 2016 - Def Leppard 2016 Summer Tour Announced With REO Speedwagon/Tesla - Read More

Not content with only 9 shows in May the band announced their Summer Tour 2016 with 45 shows confirmed alongside REO Speedwagon and Tesla.

Joe Elliott quote - "I'm really looking forward to getting back out there and playing some great music with some great people for some of the most appreciative audiences in the world. It really is always a pleasure."
