Def Leppard bassist Rick Savage has phoned LA radio station KLOS to pay tribute to Bob Coburn.

The long time host of the Rockline Radio show passed away on Saturday aged 68 and many musicians have been paying tribute to him.

Sav phoned them to leave a short message which can be heard below.

Rockline radio from 4th May 1981 until 22nd December 2014. A run of 33 and a half years with a total of 1,650 shows broadcast.

In December 2014 they decided to end the show and left a message on their website which can be read below.

Bob went on to present his own show on 95.5 KLOS who have posted a tribute page to him on their website.

Def Leppard band members appeared on the show around 20 times from 1981 to 2014.

The first appearance was in 1981 by Joe and Steve promoting the High 'n' Dry album.

Phil appeared with Manraze in 2011/2013 and Joe with the Down 'n' Outz in 2010 and March 2014 (the last Lep related appearance on the show).

The last interview the full band did with Bob was when he hosted the YouTube Presents Q and A session in June 2012. The only one which was filmed.

Watch the full video of that interview. Vivian also paid tribute on Facebook.

Bob Coburn RIP - Rick Savage Tribute

"Hello Bob. It's Rick Savage from Def Leppard here. I just wanted to take the time out to express my gratitude and appreciation for everything you've done for Def Leppard over the years and indeed the music industry in general."

"I was recalling a moment many, many years ago. In fact it was the first time our paths crossed over the airwaves. You were very good enough to allow me to phone in as a fake fan when Joe Elliott was doing a Rockline show with Joey Ramone and Joe Perry. Only for me to ask the very important question to Mr. Elliott. "Hey Joe, what have you done with my toothpaste?"."

"That was the very first time that I actually appeared on Rockline. There's been many more since. They've been great fun. I look back at them fondly and of course the work that you've done for everybody concerned has been unbelievable. There won't be many other people in the industry that have done what you have done for so long with such humour and nobility. And I just wanted to express my thanks and appreciation for that. God bless, bye."

Bob Coburn RIP - Vivian Campbell Facebook Tribute

"So very sad to hear of the passing of our old friend Bob Coburn earlier today. Bob was the voice of Rockline. He was a true champion of the genre, and an encyclopedic lover of the music. R.I.P. Bob. You will be missed by many."

Rockline Radio - December 2014 End Message

"After 33 1/2 years of connecting you to the biggest stars in Rock & Roll on Rockline it is time for our our phones to fall silent, our mics to be turned off and our studios to be darkened. It's been one helluva ride to say the least and we thank your for playing your role and cranking up your radio, always remember, Rock till you drop! We will continue to present the greatest programs in our show's history for one final time until we sign off at the end of 2014. The following blurbs were written the first time these shows appeared as Encores and have not been redacted."
