Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott hosted another edition of his weekly radio show last night on Planet Rock.

This week's show included songs by Mick Ronson, David Bowie and Mott The Hoople.

The show featured all cover versions inspired by Joe realising the YEAH! album was released ten years ago in May.

Joe played the original versions of all 14 songs from the album on 6th June 2015 for his 250th show.

If you listen closely to the Mick Ronson song 'Girl Can't Help It' you may notice similarities with parts of Joe's own song 'She's Too Tough'. The "She can't help it, the girl can't help it" section.

The full playlist is shown below along with a few of Joe's on air quotes.

The show is available until next Saturday using the On Demand feature. It is also repeated on Tuesdays at 9pm.

The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week all the way from St. Louis in Missouri. Tonight a very special show. It is all covers. Inspired by what?. Well I've been doing a lot of press and they keep mentioning the anniversaries of certain Leppard records. It's 35 years since High 'n' Dry came out, this year. 29 years since Hysteria was released. But also, and very unsung because it's not a well known record, the YEAH! album. The covers album came out ten years ago this year. So this show is all covers. Our album was inspired by David Bowie doing one called Pin Ups back in 1973. So I'm gonna start the show off with David Bowie."

David Bowie

"Although released in the same year 1973, that song is actually not on the Pin Ups album. That is maybe the song that inspired the Pin Ups album. That is David Bowie from Aladdin Sane with his version of the Rolling Stones song Let's Spend The Night Together."

Mick Ronson

"And almost the same band recorded this a year later. This is Mick Ronson."

"And before that Mick Ronson from his second solo album in 1975. The album Play Don't Worry with his version of the old Little Richard classic Girl Can't Help It."

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

"Well it may have been a little obvious to play I Want Rock And Roll by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts because that itself is a cover. It was the B Side of an old Arrows single. A little known English Glam rock band from the mid 70s. But I chose that instead. If you're a fan of Sweet, you'll recognise that as a Sweet song called A.C.D.C. from Joan Jett's album Sinner."

KISS

"Now giving the Argent version a good run for it's money. This is KISS."

"And before that, originally from Bill And Ted's Bogus Journey Original Soundtrack. But of course these days on the Very Best Of. We heard KISS with their version of Argent's God Gave Rock 'N' Roll to You."

Foo Fighters

"I believe there's footage out there somewhere of Dave Grohl and the boys performing that song at the White House in front of President Obama and Sir Paul McCartney. So, no pressure eh boys!. That is the Foo Fighters there with their version of the old Wings classic Band On The Run."

Mott The Hoople

"Now here's Mott The Hoople, courtesy of an idea by David Bowie, doing Lou Reed."

"And before that from 1972. The David Bowie produced album All the Young Dudes. We heard Mott The Hoople with their version of The Velvet Underground classic Sweet Jane."

Def Leppard

"Well seeing as this show was inspired by the fact that it's ten years since the Def Leppard covers album YEAH! was released. I think we should play something from it. And having just heard Bryan Ferry doing Dobie Gray. How about we hear Def Leppard doing Bryan Ferry."

"And before that Def Leppard from the YEAH! album covering Roxy Music's Street life."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from St. Louis in Missouri is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week god willing at the same time from Joe's Garage in Dublin, Ireland because Leppard are taking a two week break."

"Until then though I'm gonna leave you with this. The final cover of the show. Once recorded by the Down 'n' Outz. We did it because Mott did it. Mott did it because The Easybeats did it. And this is Mott from the album Shouting And Pointing with Good Times. Until next week see ya!."
