Sheffield newspaper The Star have posted some rare historical Def Leppard photos on their website.

The five photos were all taken in Sheffield at various points of their career.

They include two shots from the 1993 Don Valley show. The "April 1993" seen in their quote below is related to the photo of Joe at the stadium on 5th April 1993 when the show was actually announced.

The rarest one is a shot from 31st December 1984 not long after Rick Allen's car accident happened. It shows his Corvette Stingray upside down on the A57 road with police and a fire engine in the background. This photo was once used in some UK music magazines.

The others are from the Wapentake acoustic show and the National Centre For Popular Music opening in October 1995.

Sav's late father used to work for this paper, based in the city centre, when it was still known as the Sheffield Star.

The Star - Article Quote

"The band are still going today and have played many Sheffield gigs, including the one pictured here at the (now bulldozed) Don Valley Stadium, in April 1993, as well as another, pictured at the old rock club the Wapentake, in Cambridge Street, Sheffield, in October 1995."
