Def Leppard played a 2016 Summer Tour show last night in Tampa, FL with 17 songs performed.

The show took place at the 20,000 capacity MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre.

The band's first time in Tampa since 23rd June 2015 on the 2015 world tour.

The 10th show the band have played in Tampa and 7th time at this venue.

The first visit here took place in September 1981 at Curtis Hixon Hall as support to Ozzy Osbourne.

They would not return until December 1987 for an In The Round show during the Hysteria tour.

A show played on New Year's Eve. The first time they had ever performed on that date.

Another lengthy gap followed with the band not returning until June 2005 on the Rock Of Ages tour at St. Pete Times Forum.

The first of seven shows at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre took place in July 2006 on the YEAH! tour.

It was them known as the Ford Amphitheatre and they came back to play here in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2015.

That show opened the main US tour and was one of four shows missed by Vivian Campbell in 2015.

The same setlist was played with no changes and Tesla were back as the opening band after three shows away due to illness.

Joe referenced the extreme heat which he said was hotter than the last two shows in Raleigh and Atlanta. Meaning temperatures were in the high 90s.

The show took place one day before the 30th anniversary of the band's big comeback show at Donington Park in England in 1986.

Joe Elliott - Phil Collen/Dangerous Intro

"Thank you. And good evening Tampa. How we doing? Look at that. It's good to be here. Always a pleasure. Gonna have a good time tonight?. What do you want? what are you gonna get?. Well you're gonna get a bit of everything. Some old. Some new. Some borrowed. Nothing blue right?. This is Phil Collen here. He's gonna intro one of our more recent numbers from the latest album. This one's called Dangerous."

Joe Elliott - Vivian Campbell/Armageddon It Intro

"Thank you. Thank you very much. Well it was hot in Raleigh. North Carolina. It was hot in Atlanta but f**k me Reg. This is hot!. This is a really hot gig. Feel free to disrobe if you like. Look who's here. Look who's here. (drumbeat) Later dear. None of that jazz man. No this boy here all the way from, originally many years ago, Northern Ireland. He is of course the boy who puts the fast in Belfast. Ladies and gentleman can you a lot of noise please for a very happy and healthy Vivian Campbell."

Joe Elliott - Rick Savage/Rock On Intro

"Someone's smoking something. You know how I know? because I was gonna say something really important and I've forgotten what it is. F**k that's strong. Holy shit. You know there's a load of cops backstage."

"How we doing out there?. You know you look at this place and see all these people and it just takes us all back to the beginning. When we first came to the States. When you look back at the calendar it's 36 years ago since we first played around these ways. With the likes of Ted Nugent and Ozzy Osbourne and what have you. Way back in the early 80s."

"36 years since we first came here can you believe it?. But cast your minds back even further people. To the summer of Who was alive in the summer of '77? Alright who wasn't alive in the summer of '77?. Oh see it's not exactly fifty-fifty but there's a lot of young kids coming in and that's what everybody needs. New blood keeping this music that we like to call rock and roll alive and kicking. Not just this band, every band. We need crowds like this and we love you for bringing the kids through. I saw the Stones once in '89. Even that's a long time ago but they've been around for a while. And there was this guy you know. A fan for years and then his son, and then his son. F**king Granddad, Dad and kid. All singing Jumpin' Jack Flash. It doesn't get any better than that."

"I thought back then. I hope that happens to us one day. And here we are but think back to that summer of '77. I met a 16 year old kid for the very first time. He came round to my Mum and Dad's house to have a look at my very expansive record collection. And we got talking and realised we had a lot in common. There was a lot of great things happening in the summer of '77 in Great Britain. There was bands like Blondie and the Ramones and the Sex Pistols and The Clash and Roxy. And the other bands like Thin Lizzy, U.F.O., Queen, AC/DC. These bands inspired us. And we said to each other wouldn't it be great if we put a band together and see what happens."

"Well, 39 years later. I can honestly say, with my hand on my heart, that that 16 year old kid is still today my best mate. Ladies and gentleman Mr. Rick Savage."

Joe Elliott - Pre-Rock Of Ages Speech

"Thank you. One more look. Look at that. It used to be lighters now it's call phones. It still looks beautiful. Get your cell phones out. Let's do it. Let's go. Cell phones out. Let's have a look. Oh yeah look at that. Turn round. Look at yourselves. Give yourselves a round of applause Tampa!."

"I mentioned earlier this evening how we've been coming here for 36 years or so. And if you've been following this band. During any of that time period. Doesn't matter whether you just came in right at the beginning or whether you came in a few years ago. You will obviously have noticed that this band has has been through some shit man. But somehow we pull ourselves together, we rise above. And nobody epitomises that spirit more than this boy at the band here. Stand up Rick Allen!. And as ever he will introduce this one for ya."

Joe Elliott - End Of Show Speech

"Tampa, Florida. Thanks for coming. Thanks for having us. Thanks for being here. We'll see you next time. Goodnight!."

"Thank you so much. A real pleasure. Really, thank you. Until next time. And there will be a next time!. Do us a big favour yeah. Don't forget us and we won't forget you. Goodnight!."
