Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen has been interviewed by The New Paper and recalled a near plane crash from 1996.

Phil talked about Singapore, Rick Allen's accident/recovery, Vivian's health, the 1980s music scene, One Direction and his favourite songs to play live.

Phil recalled an incident in 1996 when the band's tour plane was en route to a show in St. Louis, MO which took place on 30th July 1996.

The plane they were travelling in from show to show nearly crashed in when it plummeted almost 2,000 feet in a few seconds.

Sav later recalled this incident as his most memorable moment of the Slang tour.

View a couple of photos of the band posing with that plane in Canada a few weeks after the incident.

The band return to Singapore on 24th November as part of the 2015 world tour.

The New Paper - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

Dangerous Situations?

"Once, we were on a plane that almost crashed. We were on tour, flying to St. Louis (in the US) when our plane dropped 2,000 feet (610m) in two seconds. It was extremely scary and pretty weird."

"After the encounter, we found out that two storms had met each other and our pilot didn’t have any choice but to manoeuvre the plane out of the way."
