That Metal Show - Joe Elliott Interview Quotes

2015 Studio Album

"We started about a year ago thinking about making a record. So we all came over to my studio in Dublin for the month of February thinking well you know let's just record some songs. Maybe we'll do an EP. We were kind of figuring a year ago, this is the strange thing about the music industry now, even we don't know what we're doing any more. You know it's like we'll do an EP because albums are kind of going out of fashion. Nobody's buying them any more. Just one song, people only want one song. So two or three songs and see what happens and a month's gone by and we've got 12 songs written."

"OK I guess we're making an album then. So we put it on hold until May - we got together - four of us got together in May. Vivian couldn't come because he was going through the chemo and the four of us came up with three or four more songs. It's like we only got together to do work on the first month's worth of work. OK well now we've got 15 or 16 things cooking. Then we had to stop and go out and do the KISS tour and then when that finished I was back home by October or so. So I've been going in and out and just singing a bit here and there. Just you know waiting for us to get back together and we got back together last month. No this month (February) two weeks ago."

"The guys came over for a couple of weeks and we've pretty much put all their stuff to bed. All the solos, backing vocals. So it's just down to me now to - we're a couple of lyrics short and a couple of vocals short but the rest of it's done."

"There's probably gonna be - I think we've got 15 songs altogether - we've definitely got an album."

Vivian's Contribution

"He was back here a couple of weeks again and he was doing everything that Vivian does which is some fantastic vocals, great solos along with Phil you know."
