Mike Karolyi - Vivian Campbell Interview Quotes

Being On Tour For Long Periods?

"Well, we've done it so long we know how to pace ourselves you know. We don't do quite as many shows a week as we used to. We try and avoid doing three in a row, at all costs you know. Whereas twenty years ago we would've done that. So we kinda - we're professional and we know how to do it. We know how to stick to - go to bed early and be well rested. And we do travel well. That's another part of being a successful band. I mean you know we try and look after ourselves as best as we can. And you know it's not Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. It's a bit of sex and a lot of rock 'n' roll. Without the drugs. I mean the only drugs I've been doing recently are chemo you know."

2015 Studio Album

"It is actually yes. You know 23 years I've been with Def Leppard. I am the new guy. The Ronnie Wood of Def Leppard. But in the 23 years I've been with the band, this is the strongest album we've made in that period. And we just finished it in Dublin last month. It will be released later this year. We don't wanna rush it. Joe's got a couple of vocals to finish up. But the rest of us are all done. It's a very diverse record."

"It's a - it started off we cut live in the studio to get the rock element. That was the first part of it. And then we moved on and got more studio oriented tracks. more production heavy songs going on. And it's diverse but it all sounds like Def Leppard and it's a great, great record. The irony is I actually haven't had an awful lot to do with it. So I think they're better off without me in that regard. So I know next time we go into the studio I'm gonna go on vacation or something. leave them to it. But it's great and it should be out some time later in the year."

New Songs Live

"People have asked are we gonna play anything from it. Yeah, obviously as soon as it goes to radio and there's a track on radio we'll be playing it in the live show. But I honestly don't know when that'll be yet."
