Cruisin' Bruce in the Morning - Vivian Campbell Interview Quotes

2015 studio album

"It's actually. It's covered a pretty broad spectrum. We started the record about a year ago. We've done it in three different instalments over the last year. And we only just finished up a couple of weeks ago. And the first instalment was us all playing live in the studio to try and capture more of the rock element. And we did that and it's certainly still on the record - those rock tracks."

"But then we - we didn't want to make just a straightforward rock record. We kind of started to think about OK well we have that element covered. What else do we need and we covered the pop element. We did some psychedelic stuff. Without the drugs!. So it's a pretty diverse record but it's a really, really strong record you know."

"As many people know I'm the Ronnie Wood of Def Leppard. I'm the new guy you know. I've been with the band for 23 years and I gotta say this is the strongest record I've made in the 23 years with Def Leppard. That's the good news. The bad news is I didn't actually have a lot to do with it because of my treatments. So I think they're better off without me! Frankly you know."

"But it is a very, very good record. Now as to when it's being released I can't help you there. We didn't quite get it finished in time to of benefit for this upcoming tour. And in fact it's still not a hundred percent done. Joe has a couple more lead vocals to do. But the rest of us are all done with our bits and then it's gotta be mixed and mastered and whatnot. So it will be released sometime in 2015. But more likely the latter half of the year."

There's always Christmas Vivian

"It'll certainly be out by then you know. Obviously there's no point in us playing anything from it prior to it's being played on the radio. So I guess we'll prepare for that when we go into rehearsal for the tour. And probably start playing what we think would be the lead track off it. Or at least getting familiar with it and then I suppose when it does go to radio sometime later this year. We'll start including that new track."

2015 Tour

"It certainly is. Yes we have a very, very busy year ahead of us. We're not only doing a very extensive US tour with Styx and Tesla. But we're going around the world starting in Canada, We're going to Europe, Japan, Australia, UK. So, and we got a new record coming out so yeah a busy time. I'm excited to be working."

"But other than that you know our tour this summer will. You know 85 percent of the setlist will be familiar to people I'm sure because if - we're fortunate to have a lot of genuine hit songs and we're kind of expected to play those at major concerts. So they'll be no surprises there but we also will try and add something a little bit different you know we always kind of do. Go into some deeper album cuts or something we haven't played in a while to keep it interesting for us."
