The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"It's that time of night!. Good evening. Yes, I do should very jolly don't I. I'm jolly because we have finished the new album. Yes, well apart from the mixing of it. We have sung our last word, played our last solo, hit our last drum. It's done!. And it will be out later this year. Looking forward to playing a few tunes from that later on."

Hothouse Flowers

"Now if you're a fan of Def Leppard and you go back as far as - oohh let's see - the Adrenalize album. You may remember some songs that we did during that session under the name of The Acoustic Hippies From Hell. We did a cover of a Hendrix song, we did a cover of a Stones song and we did an original song called From The Inside. Well The Acoustic Hippies From Hell were actually Def Leppard and the band that you just heard there the Hothouse Flowers. And from their debut album People we just heard the Hothouse Flowers with a fantastic song called If You Go."

The Who/Rush

"Out of the break we heard the mighty Quo from the album Blue For You with Mystery Song and that was followed by The Who and The Seeker. A song that was sung at the Teenage Cancer Trust gig last year at the Shepherd's Bush Empire by one Mr. Geddy Lee. And let me tell ya folks he absolutely killed it. And talking of Geddy Lee and Rush."

Black Star Riders

"The album crashed into the Top 20 this week folks. So if you haven't bought it, I heartily suggest you go out and get it 'cause it's a great album. The album is (The) Killer Instinct. The band the Black Star Riders and the song we just heard Through The Motions. I saw them live just a few nights ago at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin and they were magnificent. So if they are coming to a town near you anytime soon and they should be, because they're on this British tour for the next few weeks, I suggest you go and catch them. A great mix of brand new Black Star Riders stuff and some classic Lizzy songs to boot."

Show Outro

"I first saw that band live in about 1977 when I was 16 or 17 years old because to be quite honest I fancied the bass player Gaye Advert. She was cute. The band are The Adverts and I followed the adventures of their lead singer and main songwriter Mr. TV Smith ever since. A very talented writer indeed. But from their first album Crossing The Red Sea With The Adverts we just heard Gary Gilmour's Eyes. And before that from the Best Glam Rock Album In The World Ever compilation we heard Wizzard with the immortal See My Baby Jive."

"And that my friend brings this weeks show to an end, been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at the same time. Until then I'm gonna leave you with a track from the very imaginatively titled Rattus Norvegicus. Yes the band are The Stranglers and this is Go Buddy Go. Until next week see ya!."
