Def Leppard released their fifth studio album 'Adrenalize' 23 years ago on this day in 1992 in the UK.

The album was the first to be released after the death of guitarist Steve Clark. It was finished off in 1991 as a four piece with Phil Collen playing all of the guitar parts.

The album was the band's second straight UK Number One. After it's US release on 31st March it went on to spend five straight weeks at Number One on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

The band released five UK singles (four in the Top 20) from the album and seven in all around the world. Seven promo videos were filmed for these singles to be released later on the 'Visualize' VHS/DVD.

Below is a UK news article from the Kerrang! magazine 'Mayhem' news section in February 1992 announcing the album release.

UK Hard rock superstars Def Leppard release their long-awaited new album, titled 'Adrenalize', through Phonogram on March 30.

Produced by the band and Mike Shipley and recorded in Dublin, it will feature the following 10 tracks:

'White Lightning', 'Personal Property', 'Tear It Down' (a re-recorded version of the track that appeared as the B-side to 'Animal'), 'Tonight' and 'Have You Ever' (both ballads), 'I Wanna Touch You', 'Let's Get Rocked', 'Stand Up', 'Heaven Is' and 'Make Love Like A Man'. A single, 'Let's Get Rocked', is due on March 16.

Leppard guru and 'sixth member' Mutt Lange acted as executive producer, and also co-wrote material for 'Adrenalize' with the band.

Following the death of guitarist Steve Clark in January 1991, Phil Collen has handled all guitar parts on the album.

The band are currently auditioning guitarists before heading out on a world tour in support of 'Adrenalize'. Mayhem understands that the band have a shortlist of three axemen, which does not include early favourite John Sykes.
